GREEN BEAN RECIPE
People either love or hate the classic green bean casserole for Thanksgiving dinner. I actually like it but this is a different alternative for the big meal and it won’t hog your oven time. Fresh beans, bacon, almonds, butter…what’s not to love about this easy side dish.
This easy recipe is one of my favorite ways to make easy green beans.
INGREDIENTS
- FRESH GREEN BEANS – None of that canned stuff!
- BACON – The bacon adds tons of flavor.
- ALMONDS
- BUTTER – You could use olive oil as a substitute but I like the flavor of butter better.
HOW TO COOK BACON
I like to cook my strips of bacon in a large skillet until nice and crispy. Drain on paper towels to catch the bacon grease and then crumble into small pieces.
HOW TO MAKE THIS
INSTRUCTIONS
-
Snap the ends off the green beans and cut or snap into 1 ½ inch pieces.
-
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add the green beans and almonds. Start cooking for a couple of minutes and sprinkle with garlic salt.
-
Continue cooking for about 5-7 minutes or until green beans are tender to desired level. Add more salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with the cooked bacon and eat. For best results, eat immediately.

excellent post, very informative. I’m wondering why the other specialists of this sector do not understand this. You must continue your writing. I am sure, you’ve a huge readers’ base already!
When I head over to the link the only directions are to cut the green beans in half and add cranberries for the holidays. The ingredients are there but no directions. I made this recipe last year on thanksgiving and wanted to make it again for Christmas and remember having had no issues. Maybe it’s tablespoon?
Ugh. Yes. Tablespoon moved and jumbled everything. You just sautee the green beans until tender and then add the other ingredients. Sorry!
where is the revipe for green beans, bacon, and almonds?
It’s linked at the bottom. It used to be embedded but Tablespoon changed the way they do things.
I’ve been making something similar for years. I add dill weed which goes perfectly. I prefer using slivered almonds (they’re crunchier). You can also dress them up with sautéed mushrooms & onions.
I got this web page from my buddy who told me on the topic of this web site

Hi…love the website…found you on PInterest! Question: what can I substitute the bacon for…my friend is not a fan of b acon…
You could definitely leave the bacon out if you like. I’m not sure what you could sub for the bacon. Something salty for sure.

What a stunning recipe maybe the thing I ever taste in my life!
I’m not crazy about the typical green bean casserole, in fact, I won’t eat it at all. This will be great to try this year in place of it. Thanks Christy!
I have wanted to know how to make those for so long. I can’t wait to give them a trial run prior to Thanksgiving. I’m sure they will make the cut. They are so pretty. (Can green beans be pretty?)
I’m such a big green bean fan. These sound amazing.

Even though we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving over here in Australia I always have my parents and my hubby’s parents over for a traditional Thanksgiving meal…why…well it’s a long story…my hubby lived in Ohio for a year when he was in college and we are now very American as a result! Anyway, this looks like a brilliant recipe and I will definitely try it this year-thank so much!
Best wishes,
Natasha.
