White Chocolate Frito Popcorn
With rainbows and gold on my mind, I’ve been thinking of things that are worth their weight in gold from my own life experiences:
1) Diapers on a 5 hour airplane flight. (Not for me…for my baby :))
2) An Ipod with more than two songs on it while running a marathon. ABBA, I can never listen to you again. Sorry.
3) A babysitter that is young enough to text but mature enough to know that cake isn’t actually considered dinner for kids AND letting my kids play with my bras and throw them around the house isn’t gonna win brownie points with me.
White Chocolate Frito Popcorn
Ingredients
- 8 cups of popped popcorn
- 1 lb. 16 ounces white chocolate or almond bark
- 2 cups Frito's, crushed
- M&M’s
Instructions
- Pop corn according to package directions. I used 2 bags of microwave popcorn. Put popped corn and crushed Fritos into a large bowl. Make sure to get all of the unpopped kernels ("grannies") out or someone will break their tooth. Melt chocolate in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments, stirring in between, until melted. Pour melted chocolate over popcorn mixture and stir to coat completely. Pour onto a wax paper or parchment paper lined cookie sheet and sprinkle with M&Ms. Allow to cool and dry.
AMAZING. And perfect for upcoming National Corn Chip Day!
Yes, you’re right!
This is other option to eat popcorn it’s something really creative to watching a movie with our girlfriend and having fun.
oops – it wasn’t the cookie that led me here – it was the chicken marsala wrap. But I’ve found a lot of recipes to satisfy my sweet tooth on your blog. 🙂
Great. Thank you. Maybe I will try it with both and see what tastes better. I’ve been following your blog about a month now. Another blog I read regularly had a link to you for the Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookie. I have a sweet tooth so it immediately caught my eye. You have a lot of great recipes and seem to like a lot of the things I like. Thanks for your efforts!
@Christine,
Some people prefer the clean taste of airpopped popcorn. I think there’s enough going on with all the Fritos and white chocolate that airpopped would work fine. I have only used microwavable though.
Another question on the popcorn – can you use air-popped popcorn or does microwave popcorn work better? Maybe air-popped is too plain?
This looks great, I love sweet and salty combo foods!
umm, YUM! can’t wait to try it out for movie night! also, I totally second your #3 worth their weight in gold! babysitters who text are awesome, especially when they don’t allow bra-throwing AND actually put the kids in their pjs and put them IN the bed not just near the bed to sleep…that may have happened (just) once at my home…
This looks delicious!
I absolutely CANNOT WAIT to try this!!!
This looks so delicious!
Three of my most favorite snacks in one bowl this just can’t be right. Actually would be four wouldn’t it, nice.
OMGosh….this would be oh so bad for me. I would not be able to keep my hands off it. Somebody make it and bring me a baggie.
Oh YUMMMMM!!!! Thanks for sharing, I will try this soon.
Barb
@Jody,
I used butter popcorn but I’ve found that any kind works well. Some people like a lighter flavor with a more natural popcorn. Totally up to you!
This looks fantastic … I can’t wait to make it 🙂
hahahaha i love the babysitter comment— especially since i KNOW this is from definitely personal experience. And this popcorn looks so yummy!
IS the popcorn butter popcorn? Or plain?
Just have to say that this looks flippin’ delicious! Sweet and salty is where it’s at 🙂 Can’t wait to try it!
Oh my goodness, I love M&Ms, I love white chocolate, and I love popcorn. This was made for me.
Love it!!! M&M’s and popcorn are a staple in this house, but you have taken it to another level!
Love it with the green M & M’s. Those fritos just take it over the top don’t they!? So glad you enjoyed it.
