S’MORES PIE
I’ve been poking fun at myself on Instagram for celebrating every food holiday known to man.
In the past week, we’ve celebrated National Guacamole Day, National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, and National Watermelon Day.
You know what? I’m not going to apologize anymore for celebrating them because truth be told, I LIVE for food holidays. They give me purpose and direction.
Which is why we are celebrating National S’mores Day today! I happen to have a lot of s’mores recipes on this site so you know that I have a true love for them.
This S’mores Pie we’ve been making for Thanksgiving for the past couple of years. It’s the kid’s favorite and they all (yes, all five) help make it.
We’ve adjusted it to our tastes over the years. Chocolate chips seem redundant when we already have four Hershey’s bars in the pie, so we leave those out.
To be totally honest, my three-year-old helped me make this S’mores Pie pictured above. I turned my back for a second and she had already cracked the egg into the bowl. Or so I think.
I’m not really sure how much of the egg actually made it in which is why the crust looks a little dry.
Because I’m crazy, I made another one today with less help from the minions and the graham cracker crust turned out how it usually does (the top picture). Nice and soft and full of that graham cracker flavor.

S'mores Pie
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup marshmallow creme
- 4 whole, 1.55 Oz Bars Hershey's Chocolate Bars, Unwrapped
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and spray a 9″ pie pan with baking spray.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla and mix to combine. Stir in flour, graham cracker crumbs and baking powder.
- Take 2/3 of the dough and press on the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie pan. Carefully spread the marshmallow creme over the bottom crust. Cover the marshmallow creme with chocolate squares. I used about 3 1/4 of the chocolate bars and saved the rest for topping after baked. Sprinkle 1 cup of marshmallows on top.
- Take remaining dough. Flatten dough in hand making disks and cover the top of the marshmallows trying to cover as well as possible. It will not be completely covered and the marshmallows and chocolate will show through a little bit. Sprinkle a few marshmallows on top.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until graham cracker dough and marshmallows are golden brown.
- Remove from oven. Let cool for about 5-10 minutes and then place the remaining chocolate squares on top in a scattered pattern. If you add the chocolate too soon the heat will melt them in a puddle. Let pie cool for an additional 20 minutes before slicing so that it is not as messy. Can be eaten slightly warm or at room temperature.
I just made this for a funeral dinner and it looks great. I am wondering if I could adapt the recipe to make bar cookies.
Quick question. I have dark chocolate pieces. Would that work in place of the chocolate bars. Would I just weigh out the chocolate?
Yes absolutely!
My son and I have made this yearly for 4 years. It’s so good and with ice cream, YUM!!
Thank you!
Have you ever done it with marshmallows lining the dough instead of the cream? I am trying to figure out if I need to get the fluff. Thanks!
Yes you can totally do marshmallows. I just like the texture of cream better.
This is my fav recipe!! My best friend always makes it for special occasions. Question — does it freeze well?
Yes!
I made this today and it was sooo good! It definitely exceeded my expectations. Will be making this at our Christmas party in a couple of weeks.
Yay! We made it today too!
This pie turned out perfectly! The kids and adults loved it.
Awesome!
I made this recipe years ago. Recently, I ended up with way too many marshmallows, and I instantly thought of it. I was afraid of discovering that the recipe had been deleted from the internet, but lo and behold, here it was!! So thank you for keeping this recipe online.
Also it’s amazing! (I often just use all marshmallows instead of the marshmallow fluff, by the way)
Yes, you can definitely do that.
I feel so silly asking this question. But just want to clarify what you mean by a “prepared pie pan” under step 3. Does that mean to grease and put flour in it? I assunme the pie crust will be made with the cookie dough? p.s- I love your recipes so I am so looking forward to doing this one!
That just means spray it with cooking spray or grease.
Bought your new cookbook and have made half the recipes already! Thanks for getting me out of the dinner rut. (My family thanks you too!)
Wow thank you friend.
Can u use margarine instead of butter and would the amount be the same? Thx
I do not recommend margarine in this recipe. I can’t tell you how it would turn out.
This was so yummy, and so easy to put together! We only had full size marshmallows, so I cut them in half using a kitchen shears to replace the marshmallow cream and placed them in a single layer over the dough. Then I cut some into quarters to replace the mini marshmallows. Not sure how it compares to making the recipe as written, but everyone loved this version of it!
So glad it worked out for you!
How long does this pie stay good for? Planning on making it Tuesday but wont be enjoying until Thursday. Would it still be good or is better day of?
Totally fine for a couple of days!
How can I make this using prepared crust? Do I still need to make dough or is there another way to make this pie?
The dough kind of makes a crust. Not sure how it would work with a prepared curst.
This is always a hit! We make it for Thanksgiving now too and it’s regularly requested for any get together with our friends. So delicious!
We dont have marshmallow creme where I live, what can I use instead? Thank you.
You can use an additional cup of marshmallows.I like the texture of marshmallow creme better but marshmallows are fine.
This S’mores pie is absolutely delish…and so easy to make too. I’ve made it 4 times in the last few months and every one has loved it. I know it will be enjoyed many more times too.
Wow, we loved the S’more Pie! It was delicious 😋 Easy to make and bake. Just love all your recipes. ❤️ Thank you.
