ONE-POT SAUSAGE BROCCOLI PASTA
Every night around dinner time this One-Pan Cheesy Chicken, Broccoli, and Rice starts going wild. I get it.
We’re all just trying to feed our kids something semi-healthy, preferably with a green vegetable (broccoli) in it and some protein but we don’t want to do dishes and we don’t want to spend a lot of time cooking.
This one-pot pasta is a little different using Italian sausage. Of course if you like it spicy use a spicy pork sausage or you can add some red pepper flakes. If you want to lighten up some calories use some turkey sausage.
HOW TO MAKE THIS
INSTRUCTIONS
-
-
In a Dutch oven or large skillet with high sides, add the olive oil over medium-high heat.
-
Add the onion and sautee for a couple of minutes. Add the ground sausage. Brown and crumble the sausage. Add the garlic for the last 30 seconds of cooking.
-
Pour in the chicken broth, cream, rosemary, pasta, and broccoli (see note) scraping up the browned bits on the bottom of the pan. Bring to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes or until sauce thickens (mine thickens around 12 minutes).
-
Stir in the Parmesan cheese and add salt if needed. Serve immediately with additional grated Parmesan cheese on top
-
We all love this easy dinner. Simple ingredients with a lot of flavor. We even use turkey sausage sometimes and don’t even miss regular sausage at all.
Plus, it helps me use up my Costco sized broccoli floret bag which I bought to make this Panera Broccoli and Cheddar Soup.

Notes
Excellent! I just returned back from Sicily where I had this meal , the menu said it was broccoli and sausage no mention of pasta or cream but it was so delicious when I returned home I searched for something like it and bingo I found your recipe! All the familia loved it!
Absolutely fantastic! My high school aged son, who doesn’t care what he eats, used the word AWESOME. I loved it too – the recipe rocketed to our Top 5. Thank you!
Ha awesome!
Great one! Made this recipe few times already. Thanks for sharing <3
Thank you!
So easy and delicious! For sure a keeper.
Thank you!
Wow, this was amazing!!! I made it exactly as written and it was out of this world! Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome!
I made this last night it was amazing. Just a few changes I used pork sweet and hot sausage, broccoli rabe. I did not have heavy cream so I used chobani lactose free half and half. First time I had no leftovers!
Yum! So glad you liked it!
Thanks!!! We loved this recipe!!! I accidentally used one pound of hot turkey sausage and it turned out great. I put a lid on during cooking so the pasta would cook evenly. We like our broccoli more on the crunchy side so I blanched it ahead of time and added it at the very end. It’s a keeper!!!
SO DONT COOK THE PASTA PRIOR TO ADDING TO POT?
nope
Ahhhh! This is so good! I’m so thankful for all your recipes. Everyone that I have made has been amazing and added to my rotation of meals my kids will eat! THANK YOU!
You are welcome!
So easy! So delicious! Can’t wait to make this again! I added some red pepper flakes for a little heat and it was perfect.
So glad you liked it.
Your recipe doesn’t say whether to cook the pasta in the sauce or separately. Which is it?
It did say this: Pour in the chicken broth, cream, rosemary, pasta, and broccoli (see note). Bring to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes or until sauce thickens (mine thickens around 12 minutes).
Loved it. One pot is great. Made it with some sweet and some spicy sausage and no broccoli.
Thank you!
Sorry I’m just confused – is the pasta cooked prior to you adding it or no? Thanks!
I just made this, and I had to comment. It’s absolutely delicious! And easy! Winner.
Yay!! That makes me happy.
We loved this! Great weeknight meal.
Thank you Christy. Love your name!
Very good!!..I make it quite a lot!…cause it’s that good..lol
Awesome!
I made a vegetarian version of this with Twin Oaks Cooperative Sweet and Spicy Chorizo and it was great. Making again tonight.
Ooh yummy!
hey girl- this looks so good!
When do you add the pasta? I am assuming it’s uncooked since this is a one-pot meal… please clarify.
Oops… I missed seeing the word pasta in the directions. Should of had my coffee first!
No worries!!
Thanks!
