BLOOMIN’ PIZZA BREAD
Literally as soon as I took the Bloomin’ Onion Bread out of the oven my mind started racing of all the different possibilities and ways I could make this style of bread.
I’m always thinking of entertaining so the concept of a bread that everyone can just pull off and eat is interactive and perfect for company.
My first thought was a pizza infused bread because that’s always a crowd favorite and that’s how this baby was born.
So this weekend take a warm piece of sourdough bread glazed with Parmesan and garlic butter, oozing with melted cheese and pepperoni, and dip it in warm pizza sauce! Yum!

Bloomin’ Pizza Bread
Ingredients
- 1 unsliced round loaf sourdough bread
- 12-16 ounces mozzarella or Provolone cheese, thinly sliced
- 1 (3.5 ounce package) pepperoni, halved
- 3 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasonings
- 2 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese
- pizza/marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cut the bread lengthwise and widthwise without cutting through the bottom crust. This can be a little tricky going the second way but the bread is very forgiving.
- Place bread on a foil-lined baking sheet and insert cheese slices and pepperoni between cuts. Combine butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasonings. Drizzle or brush over bread with a pastry brush. Sprinkle bread with Parmesan cheese.
- Wrap bread completely in foil and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Unwrap the bread and bake 10 more minutes, or until cheese is melted and pepperoni is a little crispy.
It was a great price of pizza 😊
Thank you!
Might have to try this for the next carry-in.
We made this last night, except we made big cuts in the bread so they were big pieces instead of little ones- it was so tasty! A little jarred sauce to go with it and it was gone in minutes! I’m officially in love with your recipes and your website! Thank you!
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
ummm… my question sounds a bit stupid but can I use any kind of bread for this recipe?
I really love the texture and taste of a sourdough round bread here but you can use any kind. Sourdough is easier to cut.
I think using sharp cheddar and some Jalapenos or Chipotle would taste AWESOME!!!
I love this idea! I have a bag of mini pepperoni in the fridge that will be perfect for this!
How come I can’t seem to add this to my recipe box? I have made this twice now, to rave reviews both time!
Not all of the recipes have been tranferred over to Ziplist. I have a ton of recipes and am slowing formatting them into the ziplist format. Thanks for your patience.
I found the recipe from the bloomin’ onion bread recipe on recipelion.com. These look absolutely delicious and all the ideas that are in the comments sound wonderful as well. You now have a new follower. I will be lost in your recipes for hours for days!
@Anonymous (the very critical Anonymous):
While I’m sure that your critique and suggestions were taken with the highest regard, I’d like to take this opportunity to point out the glaring comma splice that appears mid-rant in your comment.
Those who live in glass houses should not cast stones.
This is a fantastic recipe and my ‘pepperonis’ turned out wonderfully! I prefer to bake it covered so the cheese is gooey and the bread doesn’t dry out. A suggestion for everyone; buy your bread in the early morning from the bakery so it hasn’t had the full day to dry out.
Happy baking!
i made the bloomin pizza bread and the bloomin onion bread and did a plain bloomin cheese bread tonight as had family round for tea and it was a brilliant success and they all coming for a bbq in week so have placed orders for the breads to be made to go with it so thanku for a wonderful meal and i will be trying ur other recipes for the deserts very soon x
This looks so amazing!!!!
I love this recipe, as well as the Blooming Onion!!! Thank you so much!
I am compelled to comment about the spelling, grammar, and related issues. We all make mistakes. Most of us, I would like to think, appreciate a heads up. It is better to be corrected and to do something about it than to present our work as if we are in 2nd. grade. A little thicker skin might help some, but accepting the reality of a human being human is best!!!
Delicious! I used my favorite garlic butter combo to brush over the bread. Perfect with pizza sauce.
Brilliant site! Everything here makes my mouth water. Thank you so very much for sharing!
I found this on pinterest too, and had to try it! It was great, and I can’t wait to try and see how it would be as a bbq chicken bloomin’ pizza! Yummy!
@Anonymous: Wow! Why don’t you make a little return to grammar school? It appears as though you may need to revisit your seventh grade comma lessons as clearly you do not understand its usage. If you did understand it, you would not have placed a comma after “words.” Additionally, the comma you placed should only be used when joining to complete sentences with a joining word. Please also refresh yourself on “proofread.” According to Webster, there is no hyphen (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/proofreading).
Goodness ~ this looks so delish!! I can’t wait to try it; I know my hubby will love it!! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing; I am so excited to have found your blog and have already found several recipes I want to try. I shared this recipe on my blog with a little shout out to you. 🙂

I just made this for a football game. My guinea pigs were very happy with it. It wasn’t as pretty as yours but it tasted quite good! Thanks so much!
I also found it on Pinterest, made it, and LOVED it!
Here is my post about it:

Saw this one on Pinterest! I have to make it for our party tomorrow. I am in charge of the bread!
This looks like a great appetizer or light meal! LOve it!
Keep all the ‘bloomin bread’ variations coming, I love it!!!!
Love it! I think I will try it with my Fast Easy Bread Italian Bread recipe and see what it tastes like. Maybe a spinach/artichoke spread inserted into the bread and then lots of yummy cheese would be good too! Thanks Christy! Your blog fan for life no matter the grammatical errors!
I like the food of your country and very beautiful picture. And my country has many delicious dishes. such as Pho
Making this for tonights dinner! Can’t wait to try it and I am sure to love it because who doesn’t love carbs stuffed with cheese 🙂
I can hardly wait to try this. I’m always on the hunt for something to take to our bookclub/potluck at church. Since we only live 5 minutes away, this could easily be kept hot on the drive, too. Thank you so much for sharing this, I love how your mind works! 🙂
Um, this looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Love this idea!
I just made this for dinner and it was AMAZING! My 4 year old son helped me make it and had a blast. Thanks for the great recipe, I can’t wait to share it with my friends and family.
I’m on keto, so i’m absolutely not supposed to eat this. Thank you for breaking my diet. haha!
My fiance would buy something if I made him this bread! Thanks for the great idea (and new shoes?)
Great idea, Christy! I LOVE your blog! Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift with all of us!
Yum! I’ve been meaning to try different variations of this bread when I first saw it. Looks great!
I am making this right now. We shall see what my three pizza crazy boys think of it. Oh, and I love your writing. It makes me laugh and sounds like me. It drives me crazy when my husband reads mine and then comments on the grammar or something. Now he just sneaks in and edits it without me knowing. Kinda cute!
This bread looks amazing! I cannot wait until I make it to the grocery store for the ingredients. It will be the perfect food for sharing with friends 🙂
Keep the great recipes going and don’t worry about they people who hate. Those of us who love the blog will continue to read 🙂
@Anonymous,
Thank you for the correction. I have 3 crazy boys so sometimes the spell checker doesn’t catch everything. Spelling is actually one of my pet peeves so I’m usuually pretty accurate. As far as gramatical errors, I write this blog as though I’m talking to you guys. So if it was an English paper, you are right…it probably wouldn’t be correct. It’s called free thinking writing.
But if I have missing words please let me know. I can’t possibly catch everything. If you don’t like my blog, please don’t read it. Thanks. Christy
@Everyone,
Thanks for your support. Anonymous strikes again.
Ok, that looks amazing! I’d eat so much of that I wouldn’t need anything else with my meal.
Looks delicious! Note to “Miss Critical” about grammatical errors…funny you are anonymous! I agree with Dalila….PEPPERONIS are the best!
Wowzers!! What a cool idea for snacking, I might even use it for main meals.
We love ‘PEPPERONIS’ at our house!
I cook a lot with ‘PEPPERONIS’, such an easy meat to use…..’PEPPERONIS’.
I have to agree with Amy & Tiffanie, great idea for football season. Bloomin’ Pizza Bread with ‘PEPPERONIS’!!!
Thanks Christy, have an awesome day! 🙂
Cannot wait to make this! Thanks!!
Glad your mind is thinking this way. What a crowd pleaser!
It’s pepperoni, not pepperonis. Take pride in your blog and start proof-reading with more care. You often have missing words, and grammatical errors.
Idiot! Did I spell that right!
This comes from someone who obviously thinks punctuation errors are okay.
LOVE this idea! Yum!
Great idea!!
I bet this smelled awesome baking too! I am realllllly looking forward to the new combinations you come up with 🙂
Oh yum! What a great twist on that Bloomin’ Onion Bread. Can’t wait to make this on our next ‘pizza’ and movie night!
Oh my goodness I’d make this if it wasn’t already super hot and sticky in my apt already. Maybe when it’s cooler out. 🙂 Thanks for the great recipe!
http://www.curiouslittlebird.ca
Get yourself a good size toaster oven they dont give off that much heat like a big oven does. I have lived in my apt for almost 5 yrs and its on the 2nd floor so I know all to well about being hot and sticky but I use my little oven all the time and I can even rotisserie in mine. I love it. I started the big oven once in 5 yrs and I litterally could smell dust when it started to heat up. lol
Would it be wrong to make it for myself and just eat it for lunch? Cause I might!
This looks delicious! What a great appetizer.
OH YUMMY!!!!! Great idea! Football season is right around the corner cant wait to make this. Mine may not be as pretty as yours though!!
Love,
Amy & Tiff

This looks fantastic!
I love the cinnamon and sugar idea – with frosting. Tasty!
can you send me how much cinnamon and sugar you used or any other variations you used on yours.thanks diann
I haven’t made a cinnamon sugar version. The only other version I’ve made is a Bloomin’ Onion version here: https://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/2011/05/bloomin-onion-bread.html
That looks delicious! I am going to make it over the weekend. My kids will go nuts!
I LOVE this! and yes, you could make so many variations!
ahem…cinnamon sugar 🙂
