Chocolate Cream Brownie Pie
Chocolate Cream Pie is a decadent and rich dessert! This pie has a flaky pie crust filled with a creamy homemade chocolate pudding and topped with fresh whipped cream.

CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE RECIPE
You know I love chocolate more than the average person so a pie with a rich chocolate filling is my kind of heaven.
This decadent chocolate cream pie recipe is made with simple ingredients.
INGREDIENTS
- PIE CRUST – We use a traditional pie crust but you could use a graham cracker crust or an Oreo cookie crust. You will need to blind bake a pie crust. I have a homemade pie crust here.
- COCOA POWDER – This gives us the rich chocolate flavor.
- BUTTER – This adds richness to the pudding.
- EGG YOLKS
- CORNSTARCH – This acts as a thickening agent.
- MILK
- SUGAR
- WHIPPPED CREAM – You must serve this with with fresh whipped cream on top of the pie because it cuts the sweetness. I have an easy recipe for homemade whipped cream made with heavy cream and the whisk attachment.
HOW TO MAKE THIS
- In a large bowl, beat the sugar and egg yolks together with an electric mixer until combined. Add the cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt until mixed. Stir in the milk.
- Pour milk mixture into a large saucepan. Cook egg yolk mixture over medium high heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula or whisk until mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla. Let mixture cool for a few minutes.
- Pour chocolate pudding filling into the baked and cooled pie shell. Chill in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours or until set. Serve with whipped cream and chocolate curls on top.

Hello! I’ve been making your brownie chocolate cream pie recipe for years. It is the hit of Thanksgiving! I just went on here to get the recipe and I see that the recipe is different and the brownie part is no longer part of it. Not a big deal as I know how to make it by now but the original recipe with the brownie bottom made two pies. We need two pies over here! lol. Want to ask if the measurements for all the ingredients for the chocolate cream part are now halved. I still intend to make two with the brownie bottom so want to make sure I make enough chocolate cream. I should double the ingredients for the chocolate cream?

Just wanted to let you know I tried this and it was AWESOME!!!! I have the same setup as you (3 boys then 2 girls) but mine range from 16-5yrs. As you know, I’m sure, finding a recipe to please 7 is a task. This disappeared that night (BOTH pies). Will have to double next time! Thanks! (I also made the creamy enchiladas and crock pot ribs this week- both winners!) I’ve been following you for about 5 yrs and you always have the best recipes and stories!

I completely understand you pain in your friend moving away. I moved around a lot because of my dad’s job. This pie looks absolutely delicious. Perfect for drowning in sorrows. I just had a question, is the pie crust and brownie suppose to go in the fridge to chill before putting the topping on or can it just be set out to cool after baking?
You can just cool it on your countertop or speed it up by putting it in the fridge.
I’ve been reading your blog for years and loved many of your recipes, but I don’t think I’ve ever commented before. Plus I’m a Mesa girl like you. And I did a short stint in Florida, where I met my best friend/girl-soulmate. We were gym, baking, and Chik-Fil-A buddies too, even though we were together for less than a year. And then of course we moved back home. But luckily her family moved to Utah a year later and now I get to see her at least twice a year and we talk several times a week. But when we moved I wasn’t sure our short in-person friendship would warrant a long-term relationship. I felt stupid at first, but I just kept calling her and making sure we stayed friends. Now 6 years later I can’t live without her. So don’t give up on your friend just because you can’t eat awesome chicken nuggets together – call her every time you go!

I feel your pain, but in my case I am the FBI family that left my best friend, my scrapping, laughing, go to gal behind and I am missing her terribly. We moved just a few months ago and I think we both are still living in denial and pretending its temporary, though it is getting harder to ignore. Hang in there.

Oh yeah, I’m an Army wife. The longest we’ve stayed in one duty-station was 3 years. Typically we move every 2 years. It sucks! I think I’m going to ask for this pie for my birthday, or make it now. Looks good!
What if I don’t have a deep dish pie plate.?
This recipe makes 2 deep dish pies but if you’re making two regular just don’t quite put all of the layers in. You may have to discard some of it. Or eat it…lol.

As a Navy Wife, I feel like I’m always the one having to say goodbye as I pack up and move hundreds of miles away. We just got stationed back in my hometown (Groton, CT) for two years, and while I’m loving every minute of it, the countdown has already begun…in 21 short months I’ll have to say goodbye once again to all my family and friends. So sorry your best bud is moving, but I gotta say, I love how you drown your sorrows. Can’t wait to try this 🙂
I have a couple of really close friends that live in different cities/states than I. But we are such good friends and every time we do get to see each other it is like no one ever moved away! BTW this pie looks insanely rich and delicious!

I’m a military wife, so it seems like I am always either leaving, or having an awesome friend leave me. I live in Virginia now, and my two best friends live in Washington and Mississippi!! It’s so hard, and sometimes the finding new friends part is even harder. I hope the pie helps you feel at least a little better!
