GRILLED ASIAN SALMON
While my husband and sons were at Scout camp I made this Grilled Asian Salmon and ate it for three days straight. Apparently, unless I have an audience, creativity in my meals isn’t necessary.
By the third day I remembered thinking that I remembered hearing something that salmon should only be eaten once a week due to it’s mercury levels. Or was that just when I was pregnant?? Ahhh. Freak out!
I quickly googled, “Can I eat salmon everyday?”
I was to happy to find out that the answer was yes! Salmon with salad, salmon with quinoa, salmon with broccoli…I was on a roll and didn’t plan to stop.
My kids used to call salmon “pink chicken” which isn’t the best thing to train them to think.
HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK IS IT SAFE TO EAT SALMON?
You should eat salmon at least two times a week according to the America Heart Association. At least! It’s good to eat salmon because of the Omega-3 fatty acids which are great for the heart and brain.
CAN I BAKE THIS INSTEAD OF GRILL IT?
Yes. I’ve had a lot of you tell me that you either don’t have a grill or don’t feel comfortable using it. No problem. You can bake this at 400 degrees in the oven until it flakes with a fork.

Grilled Asian Salmon
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons lemon pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets
Instructions
- Whisk together all the ingredients except for the fish in a bowl, and pour into a resealable plastic bag. Add the salmon fillets, turning to coat with the marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, turning occasionally.
- Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat, and lightly oil the grate. Remove the salmon from the marinade, and shake off excess. Discard the remaining marinade.
- Grill the salmon on the preheated grill until browned and the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 4-5 minutes on each side. This can also be cooked in a 400 degree oven for 8-10 minutes depending on the thickness of your salmon.
Grilled the salmon. Delicious! Used the marinade on chicken breasts too. Itβs an excellent marinade! ππ
