APPLEBEE’S BLONDIE COPYCAT
I created this recipe for General Mills back in 2010. Back then, it was a maple walnut blondie.
Since, Applebee’s appears to have changed their blondie to a butter pecan blondie.
Back in college, my husband and I waited tables at Outback Steakhouse and after our shift the only place open to grab a bite to eat was Applebee’s. It was good back then but I’m not a fan now.
Which brings me to the fact that this version of their blondie is WAY better than their actual blondie.
Every time we ordered one their they came out burnt or dry. I took the flavors of the blondie and made them shine.
I usually try to let my food speak for itself but this is honestly a melt in your mouth blondie with a brown sugar base is so delicious.
The maple cream sauce has just enough maple to give it the flavor that compliments the vanilla ice cream.

This blondie recipe is a classic. You can change the mix-ins to whatever you want but these are what are in the Applebee’s blondie.
CAN I DOUBLE THIS?
Yes. You can double this recipe and bake it in a 9×13 pan.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 ½ cups brown sugar
- 1 large egg plus 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
MAPLE CREAM SAUCE:
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350℉ and grease an 8x8 baking dish.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until combined. Add the eggs and vanilla; beat until light in color.
- Whisk in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the white chocolate chips and nuts.
- Spread into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 25-35 minutes or until the center is set. For a gooey center cook around 25 minutes. The bars will set up as they cool. Cook longer for firmer bars.
- While blondies are cooking, make the Maple Cream Sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese, and syrup by hand or with a mixer. If you want it thinner you can heat it for a few seconds in the microwave.
- Serve blondies warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with the maple cream sauce.

My sauce is not “ drizzable”. Am I supposed to heat it ? The instructions don’t say to heat
If you’re cream cheese is soft enough it should be drizzable. If you want it thinner you can heat it for a few seconds in the microwave.
I’m so sad. I was so looking forward to these and mine went flat after I took them out of the oven after cooking for 35 minutes. What did I do wrong?
I mean they’re not super thick but if they’re flat maybe you didn’t cook long enough?
