BBQ AND GRAPE JELLY MEATBALLS
I made these meatballs for General Mills back in 2010 and realized I never posted them here. You really can’t beat a simple dump and cook in the crock pot recipe like these.
WHY I LIKE THESE
- Only 3 ingredients
- Simple flavors
- Everyone likes them
- You can keep them warm in a slow cooker for a long time.
INGREDIENTS
Only 3 ingredients in these.
- Meatballs – you can use frozen or homemade beef meatballs if you’re feeling ambitious.
- grape jelly – this flavor pairs well with BBQ but you could try different flavors if you want.
- BBQ sauce – I like Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce. Another twist on this is to use Chili sauce which has a flavor similar to ketchup. Both are good but I prefer BBQ sauce and have it on hand.
OTHER APPETIZER RECIPES

Hi Christy: In Sept. of 2014 I had just purchased your book of “The Girl Who Ate Everything”. Loved it and sent you a e-mail telling you that we also are LDS and I was going to teach a cooking presentation in Relief Society. Of course I took your book with me, and it was a BIG hit, and was sure some would buy your book. You were living in Florida at the time and your husband was with the Miami Dolphins, and since you have moved to Utah? My husband was born in the Sugar House area, and I am a native Californian. Since that time, things have changed and Bill passed away a few years ago, things are certainly more challenging, but I am making it.
I bought your new book “Scrumptious” and I love it, also, just like the first. Of course I have favorites, in both, and is there any more to come????? :It must be most difficult to publish a book, I can only imagine.
We corresponded for a bit, and how is John? I assume he retired from football, now that you are in Utah. Well, I will close and get back to daily duties. Wish you and your family lots of fun and energy, and Christy please keep those “cards and letters” coming, my error keep the recipe books coming. Do you do much with the Instant Pots? I bought one, LOVE it , quite an improvement over the old ones, I just love mine, use it a lot. Take care and hope I haven’t rambled too much. Verna
Oh Verna! nice to hear from you again. Yes, a lot has changed since then. Wow. You were one of my first supporters. Thank you!! John is great and retired. We are loving Utah. I do have a few instant pot recipes. Hope you are doing well. Christy
Can I double this recipe and use a 6 qt crockpot? Will all of the meatballs fit comfortably, do you think?
Yes, they should fit!
What a hit
Thank you!
I was introduced to these back in 1979 when a friend invited me over for lunch. She used Homemade chili sauce and currant jelly. Homemade meatballs of course. My family loves these!!!Â
Hey girl hey! Miss you
I make these with a bottle of Heinz chile sauce and grape jelly. Â Perfecto!!
Yes I’ve done chili sauce as well.
Can I make this without a slow cooker and use my Dutch oven?
