INGREDIENTS
- ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
- SUGAR
- BAKING POWDER
- SALT
- VANILLA EXTRACT
- GROUND CINNAMON
- EGG – Room temperature eggs work best.
- MILK
- BUTTER – melted butter for the topping and in the batter.
- FRESH BLUEBERRIES OR FROZEN BLUEBERRIES
HOW TO MAKE BLUEBERRY MUFFINS
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350º. Line muffin pan with 12 paper muffin liners.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat in. Add the vanilla and milk and combine well. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Gently fold in blueberries into muffin batter. Spoon batter evenly into the prepared muffin cups.
- To prepare streusel topping mix with sugar, flour, butter, and cinnamon with a fork. Sometimes I use my hands to get it fully incorporated so that it has the texture of wet sand. Sprinkle the top of the muffins with streusel topping.
- Bake at 350º for 20 to 25 min, until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean. Makes 12 muffins. Store in an airtight container.
You want to fill the muffin tins almost all the way full. These make jumbo muffins.
The streusel topping makes them over the top!

This made 18 standard sized muffins for me. I have been making this recipe for about 8 years, and I always have to double the streusel topping. It’s soooo good!
Good to know! Thank you
Made these last night and they turned out absolutely perfect!! I need to work on my streusel skills but that’s my fault not the recipes. 😉. I didn’t have whole milk on hand so I added a bit of sour cream to my 2%milk. Thanks for a great recipe! Looking forward to many batches!!
Yay!
do you know calories per muffin
Christy, these are chockful of blueberries and they’re absolutely delicious – the best blueberry muffins I’ve ever had. I think you’d have way more 5-star ratings if you corrected the recipe to delete “jumbo”. As noted in the comments, these are regular sized muffins, not jumbo. Lots of people don’t have the jumbo muffin pans or perhaps don’t want extra-large muffins so they bypass your recipe which is a shame.
Thanks for letting me know
I am literally addicted to your banana muffins with brown sugar topping I make them just for myself lol but my hubby loves blueberry muffins so I of coarse had to try yours out first .. I say it was a success! I’d recommend adding a comment about how they will fill up the muffin pan to the top its not 2/3rds full like regular muffins I almost didn’t fill them up because I was scared they’d over flow but then I saw how u said to divide it up between the 12 cups so I figured they were supposed to be full and the berries would condense down (this is first time making homemade blueberry muffins) glad I reread ur directions
I am literally addicted to your banana muffins with brown sugar topping I make them just for myself lol but my hubby loves blueberry muffins so I of coarse had to try yours out first can’t wait to see how they turn out!
I have made these over and over again since 2016. But I’d like to clarify that they do not make 12 jumbo muffins…. I can usually get something between 4-6 jumbo muffins, but 12 standard sized muffins.
Thanks for your feedback!
They turned out perfect! I made them just as written with frozen wild blueberries.
So happy to hear!
Either I am a total moron, or this recipe needs a bit more clarification.
I’m a noob in the kitchen so I follow the instructions to the letter. I don’t assume anything, I don’t improvise. So I put the milk and eggs together. ‘Cuz it says so – put the eggs, milk and vanila, no mentionof stirring inbetween. It was a disaster. I don’t know the term in English but the components of the batch seperated themselves – like when you put lemon in milk. I had to ask my spouse (he is kinda the kitchen expert at home) and it took him like 20min stabelize the batch. So I weren’t surprised when the muffins came out extremely moist, even dump. And after all night left without a lid they are still tacky.
My spouse said that I should never put eggs + watery things right to the oily things. I think I’ll give this recipe a go one more time with his recommends 🙂
Sorry! Not sure what went wrong but it is okay to put eggs and oil together.
Were your eggs and milk cold? I’ve had better luck with room temperature ingredients.
You’re not a moron! Baking is science and so we should think of ourselves as mad scientists learning as we go 🙂
Hi
Can I make it without butter and milk?
That would definitely mess with the nature of the recipe.
So there was a breakfast potluck at work and I had no idea what to bring. I have a recipe for amazing pumpkin muffins, but it’s June and I just didn’t think pumpkin seemed quite right. But muffins did seem like a good idea plus I had all of the basic ingredients needed on hand – I just needed a recipe, not too complicated (I hate to bake) but unique and delicious. A search on the internet yielded a plethora of muffin recipes with blueberry being the most popular. Ok, so I’ll make blueberry muffins, now whose recipe do I use? (Sometimes, when searching for a recipe I click on google images and if I see a photo of something that looks really good, that’s the recipe I’ll use). So I made your streusel topped blueberry muffins for the potluck, and let me tell you they were a huge hit. The streusel topping takes them to the next level and makes them look so pretty. Thanks for another amazing recipe.
Thank you! I love hearing that!
I followed the recipe exactly how it said to and my batter came out so tough it was hard to mix and add the blueberries. I’m not sure what I did wrong but my muffins have been in for 30 minutes and they still are really gooey in the middle. I put them back in so we shall see. Any thoughts of what I may have done wrong?
Shoot. I have no idea why?! I wish I could cook with you and figure it out…
does this receipe make 12 jumbo muffins like Panera Bread or the cupcake size
It makes cupcake size muffins.
Added lemon zest to the batter and these were soooo freaking good!
Glad you liked them!
These are seriously amazing!! Just made them, wrote about it on my blog and linked to you. 🙂

Thanks Sara!!!
Can I make these in a mini muffin tin as well? Do you think that would work alright? I’m hosting a crafting/brunch party in a couple of weeks, and want to make a mini muffin bar set-up. 🙂
You can definitely make these mini muffin size but I’m not sure what the baking time would be. You would have to test it and just see when they start to barely turn golden.
Hello! I tried this recipe and loved it. I added a little cream cheese filling to the tops and it was great. I reposted this recipe on my blog (with credit to you of course), I hope that’s okay! Here’s the link: http://briannalanephotography.com/2013/07/17/found-great-blueberry-streusel-muffins/
Thanks for the repost!
These were delicious!! My 3 year old and I went blueberry picking this morning and I needed a recipe to use up some of the berries we picked. These were perfect! I didn’t have whole milk, so I used some heavy cream and some skim milk. I used a little more milk than it called for to thin the batter just a bit so I could mix in the berries. They turned out moist and delicious! Thanks for the great recipe!!
I made these recently. We LOVE THEM. Thank you. I am going to throw out all other blueberry muffin recipes.
I didn’t even put the streusel and they were great..
Hi!! Oh my god, so I have a list of recipes to try from your blog alone. I recently started this baking blog in an effort to learn how to cook for my husband-to-be. For my birthday, he bought me a KitchenAid mixer and for my first ever baking experience, I made your muffins!!!
They didn’t come out as lovely as yours did in the picture, but OMG!!!! These got rave reviews from everyone who tried them!! Thank you! Great easy recipe for cooking-challenged like myself. 🙂
The muffins are delicious!!! Thanks for the recipe.

Just baked these for my boyfriend and am going to surprise him with these once he gets off! I sampled a few out of the batch ofcourse 😉 Delicious! I really enjoyed how easy it was as well since my foot is busted so i have to hop around.

This makes 12 Jumbo muffins.
Hi i am wndering…does this batch make 12 little muffins or 12 regular size muffins?
I made these without the struesel topping twice already! They are SO GOOD! ohmy. I gave the first batch to a friend who just had a baby, but I couldn’t stand not having them in my house so I made them again!
These were delicious! I’m a day away from my due date and was trying to coerce my baby out with baked goods. It didn’t work today but the streusel topping MAKES these muffins. Delicious! This weekend, I’m going to try the S’mores Treats.
loookks so good!
Oh no – way to hang in there with your dress dilemma!
I’ve been searching for the perfect blueberry muffin recipe and adding this to my list of recipes to try! Thanks so much!

Congrats!! I just wanted to say that I had a chronic cough with my second child and once he was delivered, it was gone. Hoping yours is healed soon.
Blessings,
Danielle
LOL!!! That is hilarious and oh so sad!! And I LOVE GARTH!!!!!!!!!
I love how you have a decedent muffin recipe after you burst out of your dress. I did that very thing at a wedding recently…oh yea…good times.
I’m in my first pregnancy and feel like I am in that weird stage where I’m just looking fat. It’s very frustrating! Haven’t split any clothes yet though. These muffins look delicious. Perfect to eat before work.
Although I am not pregnant, when I was, all I wanted to eat was blueberry muffins. This is going to save me a lot of money and trips to costco if I ever have another kiddo. Thanks for the great recipe!!!!
Oh no!!! Soooo embarrassingly funny-something to remember;) These muffins had to make it all better though!
Oh no!! What an embarrassing moment! Glad you can laugh about it now and had the courage to share it with us!
Oh and I am a streusel topping kind of girl. On my muffins, coffee cake, pies… so these are totally my type of muffin!
I have been there! I had a pair of jeans that were stretched too thin and just kept ripping!
On the other hand, I want these muffins!
I had to LOL at your story. I just recently split 2 pairs…I’m not pregnant just wear my pants for way to long.
These looks superb!
mmmm I’m in love!
That is an amazing story. Wasn’t the Garth show incredible. I love it. I don’t even understand how your hubs macgyvered it back together. That may be as impressive as these muffins.
I love that story! So funny 🙂 and these muffins look incredible. I love blueberry muffins made with fresh blueberries!
Oh GOSH. That is a story you can tell your child someday–“Wanna hear about one time in Vegas when my dress split open down the back because of you? …Well, and because of dinner. But mostly because of you!” 🙂
Also, YAY, I have been craving breakfast muffings. These look delicious, and I have all the ingredients (save for the blueberries, but obviously those are better fresh) in my kitchen right now!
What a funny story. I’m really impressed your husband could fix it. So glad you loved the muffins. I’ll have to try your streusel topping. Thanks for the link love!
Ha! Love the story! 😉 These muffins look delish!
I am a blueberry muffin junkie right now. I find myself wanting them all the time. If you’re interested in a slightly more good for you version, I’ve got one on my blog, but wondering if 100% whole wheat flour really matters that much when you have sugar in a recipe. It sure is nice to have food that tastes good!
Hahah! What a great story!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!! I’m sure all preggers appreciate your brave honesty. Heehee…
The muffin looks great; will have to try it with my little guy! 🙂
Oh christy I’m dying at that story! Of course John was able to macgyver it back together. Hope you guys had a great time, these muffins look great!
