ORANGE CREAMSICLE COOKIES
Ahhh…summer is here. Do you remember those orange creamsicle popsicles as a kid? Well these taste just like them. Cookies with a hint of orange and creamy vanilla morsels.
The center of the cookie just melts in your mouth. Take some time out from doing your chores and make these instead. Don’t they just scream SUMMER!
You’ll need some orange zest for that orange flavor. I also add a little orange extract to the cookies to give them that extra pop of flavor.
I like to place some white chocolate chips on top so they look pretty.
These are the softest cookies in the world!

Orange Creamsicle Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened, (2 sticks)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
- 2 tablespoons orange zest, (for me that was the zest of 2 oranges)
- 2 cups white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and creamy. Beat in egg, vanilla and orange extract until smooth. Gradually add flour mixture until combined. Stir in orange zest and white chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons onto parchment lined cookie sheets. Do not flatten cookies; it will make them dry. Bake 8 - 10 minutes or until golden brown around edges. Do not overcook! Cookies will be plump. Cool for several minutes on cookie sheets before transferring to rack to cool completely. Store in airtight container.
I just made these and they are so good, but I was wondering how you made yours so pretty? The texture and color is amazing.
Um. I don’t know. I just kind of plopped them on there!
Hey very nice blog!!
Hi there,I enjoy reading through your article post, I wanted to write a little comment to support you and wish you a good continuation All the best for all your blogging efforts.
These are amazing! Word of warning – “do not overcook” means they won’t look done when they are. Don’t keep them in the oven longer than 10 min.
I made this recipe for a cookie competition at my work and it won first place. Thanks!
Woo-hoo! Good job!
Orange creamsicle is my favourite flavour…in fact, I just want to the liquor store to buy the ingredients to make a similarly inspired cocktail this weekend. This cookie is definitely on my must-try list!
can’t wait to make these cream sicle cookies! Thanks!
made this and they were awesome! the hubster hates white chocolate chips but he loves em in this recipe
My new favorite cookie…addictive!!! Best after completely cooled.
I made these for my husbands’ Day Care in December. I doubled the recipe so that there would be plenty for everyone. There were fond memories of the Old Days by some of the folks who loved the ice cream. They were loved by all. Thanks for sharing.
Hi,
I just wanted to come and say that i made these cookies for Christmas and they were a hit. I doubled the recipe so I have a ton left. I’m going to take them to work at let my coworkers enjoy them. Thanks for this recipe!
Melanie
Made these for Xmas got so many compliments thank u
This was superhit in my family. Thank you!
I made these with a scraped vanilla bean, and used orange extract instead of vanilla– umm… AWESOME. beautiful, best texture…. yep. make again for sure
I didn’t have white morsels and my orange didn’t have enough zest, so I used 1/2 cup butterscotch morsels (all I had) and 1/2 cup macadamia nuts, squeezed half an orange for the juice and added 1/2 cup flour. Oh, my, gosh these are so good. I will make sure I have all the right ingredients next time, but I really like this version too. Thank you for the wonderful recipe.
I just made these & they were wonderful! My friends & family raved about them! I did make them vegan using soy butter & an egg substitute. I even added 2 T of juice from the orange. Delish! Can’t wait to try them using a lime as someone suggested!
Do you think I could freeze these? How many days would be okay? Or how long can I keep these in the refrigerator while I make other cookies to give as gifts. Thanks.
I think you could freeze these for a week or so. I always prefer fresh cookies personally. I think you could keep these in the fridge for up to two days in an airtight container.
I made these I did half of the mix with orange zest and the other half lemon. Also I did not have white chocolate chips so I used a 3.5oz Lindt white coconut candy bar. I cut it into mini square chips made about one cup. These were very good.
LQzEOu Great, thanks for sharing this blog article.Really looking forward to read more. Really Cool.
So, I made these cookies for my husband and kids because they LOVE Dreamsicles…me, not so much. Thought I would be able to resist these, WRONG!!! SO SO YUMMY! Thanks for the recipe!
These were wonderful! Thanks for another great recipe! 🙂

I could never have imagined a creamsicle merging with a cookie, but I’ll damned if this isn’t genius.and i also try this dish.
This looks so delicious! I shared it in my collection of 37 White Chocolate Recipes to try http://kristendukephotography.com/37-delicious-white-chocolate-recipes/#comments
it is very useful and good post.i want to come again and again on this blog.
I found this recipe on Pinterest and tried it today. The flavour was great, but I found them too sweet. The combination of the orange and the white chocolate was fabulous, and I will try them again with probably half the sugar. (And I generally like sweets!)
I used rounded tablespoons and got 44 cookies, about the size of a regular store cookie (an oreo, or whatever).
I absolutely loved these. I could’ve eaten them all by myself. I made mine a little smaller, and got a ton of cookies, but it was worth it.
I made these today, I followed the recipe and used a rounded teaspoon and I got 7 dozen out of my batch, but the cookies were bite sized. Next time I’ll make them bigger. They were a huge hit at my BBQ today!
@Sue,
I made mine a little bigger so I did not get 43 cookies. I would probably say around 3 dozen.
Saw these today on Pinterest and thought they would be perfect at a summer BBQ. Would like to make them ahead, do they freeze well? I saw someone said they got 43 cookies from their batch, is that about average? Need to know if I should do a double batch for the crowd, ya know…
OMG, best cookies ever!!
Found your cookies on Pinterest, and I am so glad I did! These are just delish! I’ll be checking out the rest of your recipes 🙂
These are absolutely delish! Will be making these over and over!
I made these tonight and they are outstanding! I did double the amount of orange zest and squeezed some juice from 1/2 of the orange in place of the vanilla extract. My husband ate 4 in about .5 seconds and we both agreed that it was one of the best cookies we’ve ever had! Thank you!!
I just made these cookies after discovering it on Pinterest! They looked amazing and taste EVEN BETTER!! They have an awesome texture, and great flavor. I did cut the vanilla in half, and in stead used 1/2 tsp of orange extract. Not too overpowering, just perfect! The people that I shared with loved them also!! =) THANK YOU!!
Tried it with lime zest. Tripled the zest after some tasting of the dough. Similar to a key lime pie. Pretty delish.
I can’t wait to make these tomorrow! Thank you!
How many cookies does this make?
Has anyone tried these with lemon zest? I don’t have any oranges but do have lemons that I need to use. I have been craving cookies all day! Thanks!

I found this recipe on Pinterest and had to try them out! They are soooo yummy! 3 tablespoons of zest was perfect for my taste. In my oven they were done between 7-8 minutes. Thanks for this great cookie recipe! It’s a keeper!
Made these twice in less than a week… first for a picnic at work, and then again for my hubby (ahem, me) because he enjoyed them so much!
@Melissa, So glad you liked them. Don’t you love the texture?
Made these last night. Doubled the orange zest. Absolutle perfection. Thank you for a fantastic recipe.
Made these today after finding on Pinterst. Delicious! Thank you and can’t wait to try more of your recipes!
These are wonderful! I ended up using 3 small/med oranges of zest and I think it may have been a little too much. They got rave reviews at a church cookie reception. They’re a great alternative to all the chocolate at peanut butter desserts.
oh these look wonderful…must try them….i am a new follower…led here from fb…..
love your blog and the name of it, too ! vert ckever
Mmmmm…they look delish!

I made these the other day, and they were incredibly delicious! I thought it was just going to be a fun, basic cookie, but they exceeded my expectations! I can’t stop snacking on them! I shared them on my blog with a link back to you – thanks for sharing the recipe!

Made these for a Mom’s Night Out shindig I went to last night and they are SOO good! Everyone who tried them loved ’em!! I throughly enjoyed them too. Wanted to know if anybody’s added juice of the orange or orange extract to make them taste even more orange-y??? If so, how did it work? I thought adding some juice may be good….
Made these to sell at our cookie stand last week, they were the first ones to go! Everyone raved! Thank you!
I baked these, substituting Splenda for the white sugar, egg beaters for the egg and cutting the chips in half, and they came out GREAT! I got 43 cookies out of a batch so each was 90 calories, 41g sodium and 10 carbs. A little healthier and still yummy!!
Christy, I finally made these – though (you’re not going to believe this), I thought I had oranges and midway through making the cookie dough, realized I was out! Arg. Well, I ended up with delicious vanilla cookies, but I will be making these again… WITH the orange next time. Thanks, Christy!!
I posted these on Weekend Blog Showcase. Thank you again!
I made these for a baby shower favor and everyone loved them. Thanks for the recipe.
These cookies are delicious. The first time I made them, I followed the recipe. The second time I substituted orange extract for the vanilla and chocolate chips for the white chips. YUMMY!!!!!
Hi Christy,
I’ve been eying these cookies for awhile and my sis-in-law and I just made them. They are sooo good! All the kids were begging for more. Thanks for a change-up to the normal choc chip cookie!
Allison
I ate 12 all by myself… and in 20 minutes. Where were you self-control!!!! These are dangerously tasty. I will never make them again when I am alone. EVERYONE who has tried these has asked for the recipe!
I made them and very are super-extra yummy!
@bullockjill,
I don’t have that recipe with shrimp on here but it sounds yummy!
I’m looking for a recipe I thought I saw on your site. It used Crescent rolls, shrimp, cocktail sause for sure. And I think cream cheese. Anyone know about anything similar. They were served whole. Jill
I made these for a baby shower today, they were a huge hit. I made the last few cookies with some lemon zest added in with the orange zest, and I think I liked it better! They are so yummy!
I made these last night, and they are AMAZING. Everyone at work loved them, too. Thanks for the recipe!

Yum! Creamsicles were, like, the only popsicles I ever wanted. These cookies sound incredible!
I made these today…..AMAZING! I did have to pat mine SLIGHTLY with the back of a spoon before baking, but SERIOUSLY…AWESOME! I am bringing them for a BBQ tomorrow so I am excited to get feedback!
Love your blog, THANKS so much! It is one of my top “go to’s” for recipes!
These are sooooo good. I saw them yesterday on Tastespotting and had to make them right away. They do taste like Creamsicles! Thanks for sharing an awesome recipe, Betty
Yum! I can’t wait to try them!
I loved those popsicles! Cookies that taste like that would be awesome 🙂
I used to love creamsicles!! A creamsicle cookie is such a great idea!
i love all things creamsicle, but never thought of having it as a cookie. can’t wait to try this!
Oh, Wow! I think I’m in love. I will be making these very very soon—adding oranges to the shopping list asap!
Thanks for sharing 🙂
These sound so good! I saw these back on Baked Perfection as well, but forgot about them! Thanks for the new obsession 😉
@Alanya/Ally,
I’m sure you could use orange extract. I love the little flecks of orange zest sprinkled through. I’ve done it before with about around a teaspoon or more of orange extract. You might have to add more to your taste.
Christy
Can you use orange extract?
chunky, soft and FABULOUS i’m sure.
Wow! This is great!! Your cookies have a lovely color.
Traci made these when we were visiting her and they were so good. Jaxon was just asking me for them today. I was actually surprised he even remembered them.
WTF???!!!! Hold the phone. I could never have imagined a creamsicle merging with a cookie, but I’ll damned if this isn’t genius. So excited. The only thing missing is the ice cream truck bell:( Bless you lady.
Huge fan of your blog and recipes! I have even given The Girl Who Ate Everything an award over at my own cooking blog!
