EAST FETA DIP
Fresh feta, tomatoes, green onions, and some Greek seasoning wrapped up in a warm baguette makes this simple appetizer crave worthy.
This is a great last second dip!
HOW TO MAKE FETA DIP
First, start with a large platter or shallow bowl and a cover it with a thin layer of extra-virgin olive oil. Next, dice up some tomatoes and slice some green onions.
Kitchen scissors work great for slicing green onions…the only way to go. The fresh veggies taste so good!
Add some crumbled feta on top. I like to use a block of feta cheese then crumble it because it’s less dry. Athenos is a good brand.
Add some Greek seasoning for flavor here. Cavender’s is what I used – about 2-3 teaspoons.
Finally, mix it all together and you’re done. Serve this Easy Feta Dip with warm sliced and toasted baguette, crackers, or pita bread. This is a must!
Thanks Clover’s Lane for this fresh and easy recipe.
If you want to add cucumber, it adds a great crunch!
Just dice up an English cucumber and mix it in.

How many people does this serve?
I would say about 8-10
Just did this, used red onions diced and shredded a little bit of zucchini, besides the Roma tomatoes, wanted to use up crumbled feta before it went bad.
Had pampered chef Greek seasonings. Did a taste test, expect to use it Up in next couple days. Plan to keep on back burner for taking to parties, especially in the summer. Nice and simple and flavorful and refreshing.
Thank you!
I make this add Greek olives then spread red pepper hummus on a small platter and put this on top , delightful
Yum!
If you want I can give u recipe for nice fluffy bread which will go well with this delicious dip!
Hit me!
And one other tip! Try it with greek pita bread!
I also add chopped black olives to this! It’s delicious either way!
This is the only recipe that I can get my children to eat raw tomatoes. I reduce the Greek seasoning a little but follow the rest of the recipe. This is an amazing and easy recipe.
Thank you!
This is a great dip. I especially like it served over shredded lettuce as a quick lunch. I occasionally will add avocados. Delicious!
This is always a hit and my go to simple app to bring to any get together. I usually drizzle the top with a balsamic reduction sauce. Everyone loves it!
Yum. Great addition!
Hello, I would love to try this recipe but I don’t have greek seasoning. What can I use to substitute?
Here’s a sub for Greek seasoning.

This recipe is delicious! I am a huge tomato and feta cheese fan, so I knew I had to try it. But damn! I didn’t know it would be this good! My husband, (who’s not a fan of feta cheese) tried it and loved it! My new favorite dip! Thank you!!
You are welcome!
I’ve been making a recipe similar to this for years. But, I don’t add the Greek seasoning. If you find a great high quality feta cheese you don’t need it. This is dinner for my 12 year old! It’s a great staple.
Yesss!
What seasons can I use if I don’t have Greek seasonings?
I can never get enough of this dip. I get compliments like crazy and it’s fresh and easy.
Thanks! I need to make it.
Hello there! As a greek I approve your delicious recipe! However please can u explain me what is greek seasoning? Because although I’m from Greece I never heard of it! I advise you instead of this seasoning to put fresh oregano and maybe some fresh herbs! Try it like this also!
They sell it at the store – popular brand is Cavendars
Made this tonight but added cucumber, a little red onion and cucumber. Yum!! So fresh! Toasted naan bread into pita type. Omgoodness!!!
Thank you for the recipe!
Love those additions! I need to try them.
Took to parties twice; 1st as written, second time with one bar of softened cream cheese mixed with a little feta mixed in as a “base”. 2 people asked me to take what was left home with them and I obliged! Would add a little more balsamic drizzle next time. Used sea salt pita chips to dip.
Great tips!
I have made this dip many times and it is always delicious and a huge hit with everyone!
Thank you so much Sue!
I added a diced cucumber and this was amazing!!!
Cucumber is a great addition!
This is the yummiest recipe! I have made it numerous times. I actually started adding chopped cucumbers and Kalamata olives on top!
Ooh I bet those additions are super yummy!
I’ve made this and it is delicious. How about mozzarella and Italian seasoning for an Italian spin?
Have come back to this often, as it always disappears so quickly! I sub in fresh oregano for your spice mix, and add one or two minced cloves of garlic. So fresh and delicious!! Thanks so much for this!
Thank you!
i find it hard to print out these recipes – no print button to click???
Make this all the time! So easy & tastes fabulous, DO add the balsamic drizzle (makes a real difference in the taste)
I agree!
Is thus something that can be made the day before?
No. It’s best thrown together right before serving. You could prep the ingredients, keep them separate, then toss together.
This looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it!! Just an FYI…I was at our neighborhood grocery store (Ingles) the other evening picking up items for tacos and found that they sell pre-diced fresh tomatoes by the pint and half-pint! The prices vary by exact weight, but I purchased 2 pints for less than $4 and didn’t have to dice them for our tacos. This would be great for this dip also. 🙂
I do that sometimes. A great time saver!
Im wanting to make your dish just wondering if you have made it like a day ahead just for ease of organizing a party Thx
I think it gets to mushy made the day before. You can have all the ingredients ready separately, then throw together last second.
I love this recipe. I made it for my annual holiday party last year and it was a hit! In the times I’ve made it since, I’ve found that using a good olive oil makes a big difference. Like the author mentions, the block feta is much more fresh in my opinion. I also recommend starting with 1 1/2 tsp. of the greek seasoning and working your way up by taste testing. I made the mistake of adding too much at first and it was a bit too salty. As the rule of thumb goes, you can add ingredients but you can’t subtract! Thanks Christy, for sharing!
You’re welcome and thanks for the tips!
Ever since I found this recipe almost a year ago, I’ve made it dozens of times and loved it more each time. It is completely addicting! I like to eat it with lightly salted lentil chips, which are healthy and scoop the dip great. Thanks for the recipe/idea!
The Pinterest description has cucumbers included in the ingredient description. You don’t mention it here, but we peeled, deseeded and finely diced those too. It really elevated the dish.
We also couldn’t find Greek seasoning and turns out Italian seasoning has almost the exact same ingredients, so we used that. We made it ahead of time and let it set to meld the flavors. It was divine.
Thanks! The original recipe doesn’t have cucs in it but I bet it would be great!
Made this for a Christmas party, I loved that it was both red and green. Can’t say enough how much I love this, so easy, fresh and delicious.
I just made it tonight and forgot how much I love it.
How many does this serve?
Probably around 12…
Beautiful dish and so easy to make! I can’t wait try this 🙂 Thanks, Christy!
Made this with the recommended Cavender Greek seasoning. Made the mistake of not reading the label. Sooo much salt in ithe seasoning that the dish was inedible. Have since found a Greek seasoning with a fraction of the sodium and will try it again.
What greek seasoning did you find?
yummy as is, but I had some cucumbers to to use, so I threw them in with a slash of red wine vinegar and some fresh ground pepper. Didn’t have greek seasoning, so I added some fresh oregano and thyme.
A little fresh garlic was good, but a little strong.
Can you make this the night before?
Ummm. I think it would get soggy maybe. I would prep all the stuff the night before then throw it together.
This looks dangerous ! I love love love FETA!! I can’t wait to try this but I better buy double the Feta. There is a chance I might find myself “nibbling” on the feta while making the dip.
Can this be made the night before?
I personally wouldn’t do it the night before. I would prep everything and then throw it together right before.
the traditional seasoning we use for this dip is oregano!! you can find it pretty easy http://www.trofos.com/pagesall/products.aspx?cid=53
Does it matter if you use extra virgin olive oil?
No, not at all. I always use extra virgin olive oil.
I just want to say that I have had this. My sister made it for a party and it was absolutely delicious! Here is the tip I wanted to offer-she had some left over (shockingly!) and I used it to make omelettes the next day. Oh, my goodness GOOD!
Made this last night for my husband & myself…instead of green onion, I used a chopped banana pepper from our garden. I had some leftover and mixed it with some salad greens for lunch today. Yummy!! Thanks for passing along a great recipe!
I made this dip when I had company over and everyone loved it. Just a tip, make a extra large batch. It is that good.
I’m going to make this as an appetizer for Mother ‘s Day! Any idea how many this serves? Thanks!!!
Hmmm. I would say about 8 people. Hard to say. It depends how much they eat!
Perfect!!! Thanks for the estimate, Christy….and thanks again for the recipe!! 🙂
Made this for a party and everyone LOVED it. Everyone was asking for the recipe. I wish I could find an alternative to the greek seasoning though because of the MSG. Does anyone have a homemade greek seasoning recipe?
I order from Penzy’s spices. no msg in their Greek Seasoning
I use Ya Ya B’s Greek Seasoning…so much better than Cavenders.

Would it change things dramatically to add cucumber?
I think that would be tasty!
I love your beautiful pictures….great job & great recipe! The platter used for the feta dip is beautiful and I would like to purchase one to serve the dip in. Where can I purchase it?
I got it at HomeGoods!
I have a lot of herbs & seasonings in the kitchen but not specifically “Greek seasoning”. Could you give a me a run down of what is in Greek seasoning so I could improvise? This recipe sounds so delish and easy, looking forward to making it.
All Greek seasonings are a little different but here’s one comparable: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Greek-Seasoning-2/Detail.aspx
Made this for book club tonight; not a bit leftover!
Wow! AMAZING! I’ll definitely be making this again. Thank you!
This recipe was made by my g/f on Superbowl Sunday. Everyone wo had some LOVED IT and asked for the recipe. Will DEFINITELY be taking this more often
Good to hear!
I just made this for superbowl and loved it!
What a great recipe!
And so easy, right?
Love this, but anything Greeky for me has to include some black olives. I really like the idea of hummus as the base.
I agree. But I’m an olive hater. Feel free to add them!
This sounds totally easy and really refreshing. Yum!
This looks so easy and delish! I can’t wait to find a reason to make it : )
Looks tasty. Can’t wait to try it.
I make this same dip, but instead of olive oil on the bottom, I use hummus and serve with pita chips! It’s so so good.
My mom sent me a recipe for feta dip just like this (it might be the same recipe) and I have yet to try it!! looks good!
Oh this looks so good! Love how easy it is!
I have made this dip many times for parties and it is always a crowd pleaser.
I love your blog and have found some great recipes here. Thank you and have a great 2013!
Mmm, this looks so delish!
Mmm nothing better than a good dip!
It looks perfect!!!!
