EASY PEACH COBBLER RECIPE
Peaches and I have a bad history. I won’t go into too much detail but our relationship has been rocky with a long road of making up to do.
Then there’s my husband who says every time he eats peach cobbler he wishes it was apple cobbler. Another hater.
Needless to say this easy peach cobbler had a whole lot to prove.
But I’m The Girl Who Ate Everything, so no food is off limits…no calories left unexplored.
4-INGREDIENT PEACH COBBLER
The best part is that there are only four ingredients in this cobbler. This is the easiest cobbler you will ever make with simple ingredients.
Here’s what happened: A little bit of the flour mixture is sprinkled on the bottom of the pan and mixes with the peach juices and stick of butter while cooking making it a thick peach filling.
PEACH COBBLER WITH CANNED PEACHES
The great thing about using cans of peaches is that you can make it anytime of year and not just during peach season. Of course you could use fresh fruit.
There’s nothing like juicy peaches in a fresh peach cobbler.
The crust is the perfect combo of light with a slight crispness on top. It’s not a biscuit dough topping that some cobblers have.
You might be worried it’s too wet when you stick it in the oven but after it bakes and has rested for a couple of minutes, it is perfect.
If you like yours on the drier side just don’t add all of the liquid from the peaches.
Some people use a cake mix. I’ve absolutely have done that before but this cobbler topping is so easy and tastes more like a homemade peach cobbler.
SELF-RISING FLOUR SUBSTITUTE
If you don’t keep self-rising flour on hand, make your own.
For every 1 cup self-rising flour needed, mix together: 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda.
WANT TO USE FRESH PEACHES?
When using fresh ripe peaches, peel and slice them, and sprinkle the slices with an additional 1/2 cup sugar. Refrigerate peach slices for 2 to 3 hours before using and they will make their own syrup with their peach juice.
You will need 1 3/4 pounds of peaches which around 5-6 medium peaches sliced.
HOW TO MAKE THIS
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a medium-size mixing bowl coarsely mix the flour, 3/4 cup of the sugar, and 1/4 cup melted butter together. You can add a dash of cinnamon here if you want too.
- Sprinkle about one-third of the flour mixture on the bottom of an 9×9 baking dish. The flour mixture will slightly mix with the syrup of the peaches while baking and thicken it up a bit.
- Add the peaches with their juice to the dish. If you like your cobbler on the dry side don’t add all of the liquid.
- Sprinkle the top of the peaches with the remaining sugar/flour mixture. Sprinkle the top with the remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. Drizzle with the remaining 1/4 cup of on melted butter on top of the batter. There will be a lot of liquid and it will look wet. Don’t worry, the flour mixture will soak up the liquid.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Let cobbler sit for at least 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- This can easily be doubled in a 9×13 baking dish.
TIPS:
- You can double this in a 9×13 baking dish.
- This is on the sweet side so you could cut the amount of sugar if you like. You can even use brown sugar for a deeper tone.
- Add a tablespoon of lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
- Use a teaspoon of vanilla extract for some vanilla flavor.

Just made this for an office pot luck and it was a huge hit!
This was super quick and easy to make. And it tastes good! I’m happy.
Hi! I made this recipe with peaches and I’m addicted now!! How can I make this recipe work with fresh berries? Thank you 🙂
Yes!
So easy and delicious. Tonight I tried it with pears instead of the peaches, we were pleasantly surprised.
It Gave me the cobbler sh1ts. Other than that, it was good!

Omg. I just made this with fresh peaches. Is so good. This is definitely my new go too when i have more fruit than i can eat. Thank you
Thank you!
Came out amazing
Thank you!
Thanks for the recipe! I doubled it except for the sugar, and added oats and coconut instead of the full second cup of flour. Added vanilla, cinnamon and whole pitted thawed cherries with the canned peaches. Worked really well. Delicious and easy. Husband loved it.
Thank you!
Absolutely amazingTaste is just right easy recipe to make I add a little bit of cinnamon and sugar to the flower mixture and to the top I use brown sugar instead of regular sugar for the topping perfect

Some really good recipe here
Thank you!
Absolutely delicious. Thank you
Thank you!
Super easy and tastes wonderful. I’ve used this recipe with several different canned fruits, peaches, cherry pie filling, even pineapple, they all came out great. This is definitely my gonto for an easy, but still good dessert.
Thank you!
Not my favorite. . . The best part of peach cobbler is the crust and this recipe just didn’t come out as I expected
I put mine on broil for about 10 minutes and it gave a nice crisp on top
I love peach cobbler my favorite dessert and homemade chocolate pie would love your recipe s
Very Delicious and so easy to make thank you for sharing the recipe.
Thank you!
This is my new favorite peach cobbler recipe. I tried some other recipes with a wetter batter. They can’t compete with the crunchy pie crust like bits in this one. I have printed this recipe and tucked it away with my collection of go to recipes. Thanks.
Made for church family affected by major illness. Dad is peach cobbler “conesuer”. The whole family raved! So easy to make too,
Thank you!
I love the recipe for peach cobbler so easy and delicious. I have pass the recipe on to family and friends. I was wondering if it will work with can lemon pie filling? I have several cans an want to do something different with them
I don’t see why not
Just had to tweak the measurements to fit the size I need it and it came out perfect I made one with more peaches and one with less peaches that came out beautiful we’ll use this recipe for now on!💯💜
Thank you!
It’s so good!!!!’💖
Thank you!
Can I use frozen peaches? I planned to thaw them and let them sit in sugar first
Yes!
Just made this, doubled it for a 9×13 Pyrex and buttered the bottom and sides. Came out perfect 😊
I made this the other night and it was perfect!
Thank you!
My daughter’s boyfriend asked for peach cobbler for Thanksgiving. So I tried doubling this recipe and it turned out great. I did have to make an alteration because I could only find canned peaches in pear juice, not heavy syrup. Because of that, I added 3 additional tablespoons of sugar to the 4 already called for in the doubled recipe and hoped for the best. This was so very simple to put together, looked delicious and tasted even better! This will be a go-to for family get togethers from now on. Thanks!
Oh good!
Sorry. 1 more question. If I’m doubling the recipe, do I need to adjust temp or cook time?
You shouldn’t need to
I’m going to be making this for Thanksgiving. What’s the best way to reheat it once we are ready to eat it?
Just pop it in the oven at 350 for ten minutes or if it’s in a microwave safe bowl just heat it in there.
I feel like I may be missing an ingredient like milk or something? Mine did not look wet before putting in the oven or have a lot of liquid at all. Where does the liquid come from, solely the peach juices and butter? When I made my flour mixture it came out more like a crumble. I hope this is right. About to put in the oven. Thanks!
Yes, that’s right The liquid is soley from the juices. The flour mixture should be a crumble.
It turned out wonderful. This was Absolutely DELICIOUS! I am actually making it now for a second time on a weeknight 😅 that is just how much my family loved it. It is so easy to make also. Thank you so much for the awesome recipe!
You’re welcome!
Hi…if, using the 9×13 baking dish for the cobbler, do I need to make adjustments so that when baking, it doesn’t overflow and spill. I’m only asking because a comment was posted, that hers did overflow. All comments welcome!!
You shouldn’t have to make adjustments but sounds like you need to make sure your dish is deep enough
I have several very large fresh peaches and would like to know how many would be needed for this recipe. The recipe only mentions the quantity of canned peaches.
Sorry it says it in the notes: You will need 1 3/4 pounds of peaches which around 5-6 medium peaches sliced.
Do you use salted or unsalted butter?
I used unsalted but you could definitely use salted since it is a sweet dish.
To me they’re just not peaches without a little bit of cinnamon and maybe a little almond extract. I do a three ingredient topping with oats brown sugar and butter maybe a little flour. great!
Your recipe is missing the third ingredient. It’s half a cup of what?
It’s there! Not sure why it’s not showing up for you. 1/2 cup of butter
In the ingredients, you’ve left out the word butter (assumed from part of it being melted?)
1/2 cup divided (and melted separately) of what ??? 🙂 I don’t understand.
Butter
I want to make this recipe. But it states …1/2 cup divided. So what is the ingredient as it’s not listed. Thank you for such a yummy recipe.
Sorry. It says butter.
This recipe looks delicious! I want to use fresh peaches, how many would I need to buy? Thank you!
You will need 1 3/4 pounds of peaches which around 5-6 medium peaches sliced.
Sorry for the duplicate comment – I meant to put I only have canned peaches in 100% juice.
I really want to try make this, it looks super good! I only have canned peaches with 100% and canned peaches with light syrup. Can I use those? If so do I have to alter anything (like cooking time or flour)?
You can use those. The cobble just might not be as sweet if they aren’t in syrup. You don’t need to adjust the cooking time.
Great cobbler. I used a cast iron skillet, and doubled the recipe. I also made your conversion of all purpose to self rising flour and used turbinado sugar on top. I wonder how it would taste with browned butter?
Hi this is great! When you are in a pinch use Bisquick recipe. Good for beginners! I’ve tried Christy’s and it is easy and taste wonderful! I want to try your recipe adding brown sugar and white sugar. Christy Denney could you make a suggestion for adding brown sugar? Thanks kindly!
You could definitely do half brown sugar/half white sugar!
Great peach cobbler recipe ! I doubled the recipe using a 13×9 glass baking dish. NOTE: If you use a 13×9 baking dish, make sure the sides are deep because mine is in the oven now and its running over the top.
Oh no! Thanks for the tip.
This recipe is so simple and easy. But it turned out amazing! I was craving some peach cobbler and this hit the spot! Threw some vanilla ice cream on top and I was in heaven. Thank you!!
Glad you liked it!
This was perfect! Thank you!
Thank you!
Can I add pecans?
Always!
Super simple, simply super! Made today… Smells and tastes amazing- I even made my own self-rising flour using Bob’s Red Mill gf flour. KEEPER, KEEPER🌟
Thank you!
This is one of our favorite desserts. We have done fresh, canned and a mix of fresh and canned (we bought too small of a can one time and supplemented LOL). This is one recipe everyone always asks me to make. I am going to try it with cherry pie filling today instead of peaches (we just had the peach last weekend 🙂 )
Old favorite. You can also use fresh peaches which you sprinkled a little sugar on and allowed the juices to collect. I have even halved the recipe and used a smaller can of peaches. And top it with homemade vanilla ice cream while hot!
Does anyone know if Splenda will work with this? I have a diabetic husband who absolutly loves cobblers.
This looks like a perfect cobbler, so I am going to try it.
Thank you for something so simple…
Georgie
Hope it turns out…
I am making this right now and it looks fantastic in my oven!! I have made over 8 of your recipes and they never fail me!! great job:-)
Thank you!
Like you I have a love hate relationship with peaches, yes I’m embarrassed to say I’m from peach state!! This was so easy and delicious that I might rethink the love hate thing!! Thank you for a wonderful recipe. All the others have cinnamon and nutmeg and usually over powers the taste of the peach! This doesn’t and its wonderful!!
What if I want to use FROZEN peaches…what would I do?????
Not sure? Maybe thaw them and add a simple syrup – Equal parts water and sugar. I’m not sure how much.
Of all the recipe sites I have used and shared, this is definitely the best. Shows everything. Does not make you “join” or buy any cookbooks. The photography is wonderful and dishes are mouth watering. I’m proud to be able to share your presentations. Thank you.
I just love how you have substitutes listed for those ingredients one might not have on hand. I recently discovered this site and your wonderful recipes. Since then, I come back everyday to find out what I shall make for dinner that evening. You are magnificent!!!
Thank you!
I made this for Father’s Day for dessert and it turned out fantastic! It was so easy to make and super delicious, it was a hit with everyone. Now I’m wondering what other fruit that I can substitute the peaches for! Thanks for posting this!
Glad you liked it!
Just wanted to say that I made this on Saturday for a church gathering and everyone raved about it, it was so delicious! I know it’s a success when I bring home an empty dish, which I was kind of disappointed about because I wanted some more! Thanks, this is definitely a keeper!!
Great news!
My grandma called this “Wash Day Cobbler”. I had totally forgotten about this recipe! Can’t wait to make it!
Your recipe is so super easy. Love cobbler!
Super idea for a dessert, for anytime actually…..breakfast is popping into my head right now.
It does have fruit in it, so how can I go wrong here?! 😉
Thanks for the tip on the flour, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.
It’s not always easy in my small town to find necessary ingredients all of the time.
Very nice pictures!
Love your blog! The pictures are always gorgeous. Do you mind if I ask what program you use for your recipes to be printer friendly?
Of course not. I use the Ziplist plugin for WordPress.
This is exactly how my MawMaw makes hers! It is the most perfect dessert ever! Please – keep the cinnamon and nutmeg out of my cobbler!
My husband wasn’t sure he would like this cobbler because it didn’t seem decadent enough (he’s Southern), but it looked so easy that I decided to try it anyway. It turned out delicious and it was as easy as I thought it would be. My husband liked it so much that he just had to have a small bit more and cleaned out the area all around the part that was left. I will definitely keep and use this recipe and plan to take it to our church potluck.
That’s good news. I was skeptical too.
Seriously-4 ingredients! I think I just found our next easy dessert for our Sunday game nights with the kids!
We must be on the same brain wave link cuz, I was just thinking about making cobbler! This looks delish!
Oh, now that just looks like a big hug on a plate. What a great, classic recipe made easy! Thanks for sharing!
I love your name Georgia!
One more comment; you can substitute the peaches w/any other fruit you’d like. fresh peaches and blackberries; raspberries – if your using fresh fruit; sprinkle it with a little sugar to give it some ‘juice’ or use canned fruit (shiver); like apple or cherry…. if you must. Of course, there should be vanilla ice cream… but then, you knew that.
I had to laugh when I read your post, because #1, I am an absolute peach cobbler LOVER!, and #2, this recipe is the same one my family has used for years. It’s simple – yes; but in there lies it’s delicious-nuss!! So easy, and sooo good. I’ve shared this with so many people, and they’re always like “are you kidding me? I have this stuff in my house all the time, and can whip this out whenever!” Give it a try. And please, everyone – give “peach”‘s a chance…. (lol!)
You’re right! It’s great with all fruits.
I love peaches! This looks so yummy and easy, but my husband is not a sweets person at ALL… so i’d have to eat it all by myself…oh well! Next time I get some fresh peaches I’m going to try this.
After seeing this recipe, I think I need to give peach cobbler another try!
Peach cobbler is one of my all-time favorite summertime desserts. Nothing beats fresh peaches baked into a crisp or cobbler!! And I can’t believe this recipe only has 4 ingredients. That’s a definite winner! Can’t wait to try this!
Nothing like a good, classic, like this! Looks lovely!
This looks amazing!!!! Everything you make always makes me crave something from home. I think I’ll be making this tomorrow!!!
My brother requests peach cobbler like every day, so, thank you SO much for posting an easy version!
I too am not a fan of the peach but if you liked this I may have to give it a try. After all, peaches ARE good for you.
What a beautiful cobbler!
I absolutely LOVE a good peach cobbler and have actually been craving one lately so I will try this, ty!
Mmm, cobbler is my all time fave. So southern.
I wish I was southern!
