EASY PEACH COBBLER RECIPE
Peaches and I have a bad history. I won’t go into too much detail but our relationship has been rocky with a long road of making up to do.
Then there’s my husband who says every time he eats peach cobbler he wishes it was apple cobbler. Another hater.
Needless to say this easy peach cobbler had a whole lot to prove.
But I’m The Girl Who Ate Everything, so no food is off limits…no calories left unexplored.
4-INGREDIENT PEACH COBBLER
The best part is that there are only four ingredients in this cobbler. This is the easiest cobbler you will ever make with simple ingredients.
Here’s what happened: A little bit of the flour mixture is sprinkled on the bottom of the pan and mixes with the peach juices and stick of butter while cooking making it a thick peach filling.
PEACH COBBLER WITH CANNED PEACHES
The great thing about using cans of peaches is that you can make it anytime of year and not just during peach season. Of course you could use fresh fruit.
There’s nothing like juicy peaches in a fresh peach cobbler.
The crust is the perfect combo of light with a slight crispness on top. It’s not a biscuit dough topping that some cobblers have.
You might be worried it’s too wet when you stick it in the oven but after it bakes and has rested for a couple of minutes, it is perfect.
If you like yours on the drier side just don’t add all of the liquid from the peaches.
Some people use a cake mix. I’ve absolutely have done that before but this cobbler topping is so easy and tastes more like a homemade peach cobbler.
SELF-RISING FLOUR SUBSTITUTE
If you don’t keep self-rising flour on hand, make your own.
For every 1 cup self-rising flour needed, mix together: 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda.
WANT TO USE FRESH PEACHES?
When using fresh ripe peaches, peel and slice them, and sprinkle the slices with an additional 1/2 cup sugar. Refrigerate peach slices for 2 to 3 hours before using and they will make their own syrup with their peach juice.
You will need 1 3/4 pounds of peaches which around 5-6 medium peaches sliced.
HOW TO MAKE THIS
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a medium-size mixing bowl coarsely mix the flour, 3/4 cup of the sugar, and 1/4 cup melted butter together. You can add a dash of cinnamon here if you want too.
- Sprinkle about one-third of the flour mixture on the bottom of an 9×9 baking dish. The flour mixture will slightly mix with the syrup of the peaches while baking and thicken it up a bit.
- Add the peaches with their juice to the dish. If you like your cobbler on the dry side don’t add all of the liquid.
- Sprinkle the top of the peaches with the remaining sugar/flour mixture. Sprinkle the top with the remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. Drizzle with the remaining 1/4 cup of on melted butter on top of the batter. There will be a lot of liquid and it will look wet. Don’t worry, the flour mixture will soak up the liquid.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. Let cobbler sit for at least 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
- This can easily be doubled in a 9×13 baking dish.
TIPS:
- You can double this in a 9×13 baking dish.
- This is on the sweet side so you could cut the amount of sugar if you like. You can even use brown sugar for a deeper tone.
- Add a tablespoon of lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
- Use a teaspoon of vanilla extract for some vanilla flavor.

Looking through the page of Peach Cobbler Recipes, I found YOURS, which is EXACTLY the easy recipe I wanted.
I am from North Carolina. Living a long time in Israel, I enjoy most Israeli and Middle Eastern foods, but every now & then, I need to return to my Southern foods, and Peach Cobbler is on that list. With my can of Israeli peaches, plenty of self-rising flour and everything else on hand, I’ll be having warm homemade Peach Cobbler for dessert tonight!
So, thanks for posting the right recipe for me at exactly the right time!

You’re welcome Suzanne!
Looks great
Thank you!
I have a question. I’m not sure if it’s been asked before. Can I use the peaches that are in 100% juice? And if so, do I need to do anything differently?
It should work!
I must admit I didn’t believe the comments on how good this recipe is but I tried it and it is delicious, it’s crispy on top from the sugar and not too sweet.
Thank you!
Made a cherry cobbler…husband loved it. This recipe wasa hit.
oh yum!
Wow, just made it! I used cane sugar and slightly over riped peaches and extra baking powder to substitute the baking soda. It’s sooooo delicious. Thank you so much for this super easy recipe. Can’t wait to share it with friends.
Thank you!
Great dessert idea! I have been making this peach cobbler for years and the end result has never let me down. At all our family functions it is a unanimous request that I make a peach cobbler. Thanks for sharing your recipes.
Thank you!
This recipe has become my partners favorite. I make it in individual ramekins, so he can take one for lunch!
Thank you!
How much flour? It says how to make a cup of self rising.
If you look at the ingredients it calls for 1 cup flour.
I like this recipe but it doesn’t get brown on the top like your photo. Do you think if I baked it on 375 it would? It tastes great.
If you bake it longer it should. Every oven is different so maybe yours runs slightly colder.

Ur recipe is very questionnable!
Spent half the am on it, never cooked!
Was supposed to be easy!
Shoot this is rated many times by many people. I’m sorry it didn’t turn out for you
I used the self rising flour substitute, drained some of the peach juice out of the can, used a 9×13 dish and added chopped walnuts before I sprinkled the remaining flour mixture/butter over the top.
20/10
I did broil for 5 minutes to brown the top. After chilled it is amazing!!
Thank you!
This was super simple, able to use ingredients I had on hand. I used the recommended “make it yourself” self rising flour. I also cut the sugar as recommended. I used about 1/3 cup white sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Also used one can of sliced peaches in “light syrup.” It was not mushy at all. Would definitely make again for an easy dessert.
Thank you!
Best peach cobbler recipe! Had to add a scoop of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream. This is a keeper.
Aw thank you Vickie!
Great and easy recipe!!
Modified it too…just like Alicia Hibbs posted.
Thank you!
Turned out great! I’ve been looking for a substitute for the old cake mix on top recipe since those mixes are full of bad ingredients. This works great and doesn’t have the preservatives! Yumm
Thank you!
Can this recipe be made with gluten free flour?
Sure!
yummy
Thank you!
I made an account just to comment on this! This was absolutely delicious. Made a few modifications, like half granulated sugar and half brown sugar, and I sprinkled brown sugar and cinnamon on top instead of granulated sugar, but either way it’d be perfect. My whole family loved this recipe
Aww thank you!
I can’t wait to try this peach cobbler.
Thank you!
Do I need to spray the pan with a non-stick spray before I add the ingredients?
Nope!
It’s very good. I actually used a little more than 2 cups of peaches, because I had them to use up, and it worked just fine. The recipe felt odd to make, but when she said “follow the steps in order for it to work!” I did just that, and it did just fine. it seemed to odd and soupy going into the oven, but it’s delicious. Thanks!
Thanks Lynn! Glad you believed in me.
Do you have directions for using frozen peaches?
I absolutely love this cobbler! I’ve made it 4 times since I found the recipe. It’s easy and delicious and I love the texture. Thank you!!!
I am amazed – this didn’t look to me like it would work, but it does! Yummy cobbler, with a touch of sugar crunch on top. I added about 1/4 tsp cinnamon. and may add the nutmeg and lemon juice next time, but it was delicious as it was!
Love your additions!
I love this recipe, it’s more like the pastry crust cobblers I grew up eating and is so easy and fast to put together.
I’ve already written the recipe down in my tried and true cookbook.
What a compliment!
I don’t believe you. It’s a basic recipe practically identical to tried and true recipes passed down since forever. I believe if it didn’t turn out right for you, you don’t like peaches or you didn’t follow directions.
Great recipe
Do you have any advice on making this with Raspberries??
You would have to make a simple syrup or add some sugar to the raspberries and let them sit to make their own sauce.
My husband and I really enjoyed this cobbler. I used a bit more cinnamon otherwise followed recipe using partially frozen peaches and had to cook about 20 minutes longer but that could just be my oven, it was very tasty especially when it was still warm and a bit crunchy on top but it was still good the next day when it was softer on top. I will be making this peach cobbler again! thank you!
You’re welcome!
I used strawberries frozen from Wal-Mart. I thawed them out and added some sugar. I added cool whip before serving. It was downright awesome!!!!!
So good to hear!
