HOMEMADE GARLIC BREAD
We used to have garlic bread all the time with our dinners. We didn’t have the homemade version but the store bought Texas Toast kind.
Not only is this easy garlic bread recipe so much better than that kind but it’s so easy! Crusty bread is the perfect side to pasta.
HOW TO MAKE GARLIC BREAD
-
Preheat oven to 400℉.
-
Slice the bread in half horizontally and place on a large baking sheet. In a small bowl, combine the butter, garlic cloves, parsley, garlic, and salt. Mix together well.
-
Divide the mixture in half and spread garlic butter mixture on each bread half. Bake bread for 8-10 minutes on the middle oven rack or until bread edges just start to turn golden brown. For a softer bread bake less time for a crispier garlic bread cook longer. Slice the loaf of bread with a serrated knife into thick slices and serve.
INGREDIENTS
- LOAF OF FRENCH BREAD – This can be found in the bakery. It freezes great.
- SALTED BUTTER – I’ve tried a mixture of olive oil and butter but the all butter version won the taste test ultimately. You’ll definitely want to use softened butter at room temperature so it’s easy to spread. This recipe calls for salted butter but you could also use unsalted butter. This recipe uses a whole stick of butter and it’s fabulous. Always use real butter.
- MINCED GARLIC – This is the main player to give this delicious garlic flavor.
- GARLIC POWDER – Why add this? I’ve seen this with my alfredo sauce and the two garlics together are great. A little bit of garlic powder goes a long way.
- PARLSEY – Fresh parsley is best but if you have to substitute dried parsley, that will work. A blend of Italian seasoning would work too.
- SALT – Adding salt really makes all the flavors pop. Without a little added salt everything tastes bland.

I made this tonight for dinner and it was a hit! This will be on rotation at our house from now on.
Ooh thank you!
Olive oil?
We did try a version with olive oil but liked all butter better.
