MONSTER COOKIE DOUGH DIP
Wow. Honestly…that’s all I can say.
They say a person’s true character is revealed by what he does when no one is watching…
I guess I’m a self-indulgent, ravenous Monster.
A Monster Cookie Dough Dip eating fool…
I made this dip around lunch time and could not stop eating it. I ate so much I just decided to call it lunch. Hey…peanut butter has protein in it.
I managed to save a little but for my husband to try after he came home from golfing.
My husband, the personification of self-control said, “Why can’t I stop eating this?!!”
You can customize it to be thinner like an actual dip or thicker like cookie dough which is how I like it. Serve it will graham crackers, apples, pretzels, or just a spoon (again…how I like it).
CAN YOU EAT RAW FLOUR?
I have never gotten sick from eating raw flour but if you want to heat treat it to be safe you can.
HOW TO HEAT TREAT FLOUR
There are two ways to do this:
- Place the flour in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 30 second intervals stirring in between. Make sure there are no hot spots that will burn. Do this until flour reaches 165 degrees F.
- Spread flour into an even layer on a baking sheet and bake at 300 degrees F in two minute intervals stirring in between until flour reaches 165 degrees F.

Monster Cookie Dough Dip
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup butter, slightly softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 Tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 ½ cups rolled oats, old fashioned or quick (see Note)
- 2/3 cup plain M&Ms, (give or take)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- With a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat the cream cheese, butter, and peanut butter until smooth.
- Add in the powdered sugar, brown sugar, flour, and vanilla.
- Using the paddle attachment on your stand mixer or just a wooden spoon, mix in the oats. You may want to use more or less here. I really like the oats in it and a thicker dip so I added a lot. Remember that the dip will also firm up a bit in the fridge.
- Add the M&Ms and chocolate chips.
- Store in the refrigerator until serving. Serve with pretzels, graham crackers, or apple slices. You can dip or spread this depending on how thick you made your dip. Try not to eat it all like I did!
- Note: You can use more or less oats to adjust the thickness of your dip. Start with about 1 1/2 cups oats and keep adding until you reach your desired thickness. If you use quick oats you might use less since it's finer and will make the dough thicker.
how long will this last in the refrigerated for? I have a party in two days and want to make sure t lasts
It’s definitely good in the fridge for a couple of days if you aren’t too tempted to eat it.
I made this today, and the only thing I changed was adding a few pinches of sea salt (added one pinch at a time and tested until it was just right). Really made a difference! The salt cut any bitterness in the chocolate and melded the flavors nicely. Delicious recipe!
I totally agree that a pinch of salt can bring out the best in anything. I will try it next time. Thanks for the tip Heather.
How many calories do you think are in this? I’ve been craving it so badly but curious about how much I’ll have to workout after lol
Eeee. I don’t know and am not sure I want to know…Sorry!
I’m about to make this!! I love cookie dough!! I never get sick from eating raw dough 🙂 im not a fan of oats,do I have to use oats? would like to make this today!!!
Ah. Sorry! Oats actually play a big role in monster cookies but I’m sure you could make it without. It won’t be as thick by any means.
BryAnn – Did you try it without the oats? Just wondering how it turned out.
I come to this post ALL THE TIME just to look at it! I made it once for me and my friends..after a taste bud bursting taste, we were practically shoving and biting to get to the bowl first!-
Grace,
Sounds like I could be your friend. Haha!!
how much flour should i add if i were to convert it into cookies?
I’m not sure. Without baking soda and eggs I’m not sure how they would turn out.
Ingredients
3 eggs
1 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 12 -ounce jar creamy peanut butter
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup multi-colored chocolate candies
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup raisins, optional
2 teaspoons baking soda
4 1/2 cups quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or nonstick baking mats.
In a very large mixing bowl, combine the eggs and sugars. Mix well. Add the salt, vanilla, peanut butter, and butter. Mix well. Stir in the chocolate candies, chocolate chips, raisins, if using, baking soda, and oatmeal. Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Let stand for about 3 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool. When cool, store in large resealable plastic bags
this is amazing! have to try it.
Best idea ever!! Seriously excited to make this!
I have a gluten allergy do you think gf oats would work ?
Of course!! Yes!
How many servings is this?
Angel,
I would say about 10 ish.
I just finished making this for a dip potluck at work tonight. It turned out great! Tastes amazing, quick and easy recipe, and I am sure there are countless ways to add your own spin to it. I want to try using nutella or Jiff’s mocha spread in place of the peanut butter. Thanks so much for posting a great and easy recipe. Love it! Yum Yums!
Wow! I’m one of those people who prefer to eat the batter/dough over the baked product. This was like eating the best cookie dough ever!! Can’t wait for everyone else to try it later tonight. Thanks for posting.
I just got some butterscotch peanutbutter this sounds like the perfect use for it1
If this is a dip what do you eat it with?
You can serve it with graham crackers or apple slices.
I made this this past summer after i had foot surgery and it was so good!!! So good that when I woke up it was all gone-my dad found it and ate the rest of it while I was sleeping!!! Best thing I’ve tried from Pinterest!
For anyone who wants to know, I make this (far too) often, and I always freeze half and keep the other half in the fridge/spoon it directly in to my mouth. It freezes REALLY well, and thaws out fairly quickly, too. When thawed, it’s only slightly thicker than when made fresh. Color of M&Ms doesn’t run at all, and it’s still just as delicious! It also keeps me from eating it all right away, and then I have a backup treat if there’s nothing else in the house and I HAVE to have something 🙂
I tried this recipe tonight and while it was good it made soooo much. I’ve got 6 people to feed tomorrow and I swear I’ll still have 2/3rds of it left. I should have known to at least half the recipe. Hopefully I can add an egg and some baking powder into the remaining dough and bake some cookies out of it. =)
I saw this floating on Pintrest and I immediately had to plug it into the recipe builder on the Weight Watcher site to see if this was something I could sneak in.
I exchanged the full fat cream cheese for Neufchatel (basically it’s the same is 1/3 less fat cream cheese) and used light butter instead of full fat and it STILL comes out to 168 points value. Granted that’s for 1 serving, but even if I could get 20 servings out of this, and I mean really who can; it would still be 8 points. This looks amazing though and I may just have to make it and then bring it to a party!
oh my! this recipe sounds amazing!
this sounds awesome,can you make it without creamcheese?
I love cream cheese but it is not something I have around house all the time
@Cassandra,
I’ve never tried it with cream cheese. It could be good but it might come out too thick without the cream cheese.
Where did you get this stoneware
My mother-in-law got it for me at HomeGoods I believe.
I have to make a dip for the church Christmas party, I was looking for something besides the normal ranch and veggies dip. This is a perfect idea! I’m sure that everyone will love it!!
Thanks!
This sounds awesome! I have had the chocolate chip cookie dough dip and could not stop eating it………WHEN I make this, I am in trouble!! LOL! Thank You!
Hi! Do you use Twitter? I’d like to follow you if that would be okay. I’m absolutely enjoying your blog and look forward to new posts.
I saw this recipe last week and could NOT get that picture out of my mind. Was going to make it for a party next week, but could not wait. I have been abstaining from anything delectable for a couple of weeks (doing really well) and expect this to be my downfall. Well, at least I’m taking everyone at work down with me! I made it this afternoon and of course it’s as great as I anticipated. Now to ignore it until it’s all gone! (I only licked the bowl!)
Yummy. I’m making this for a Halloween party
@Anonymous,
I’m not sure what you can use to replace oats. Maybe flaked cereal like Cornflakes would give you a good texture?
I don’t do oats, is there a replacement?
Question: Of you make this the night before, do the M&M’s coloring come off in the mix from the coldness of the fridge or once taken out to thaw, the “sweating” of moisture? I imagine it will taste better next day, but I’m worried about the M&Ms colors bleeding, and looking yucky! Lol 🙂
Thank you!
Your blog is amazing, so many yummy recipes, i can’t even keep up! Love them, thanks for sharing!
Use soynut butter! I’m allergic to peanuts and it came out awesome : )
@Anonymous,
For me monster cookie dough is made by the peanut butter so I’m racking my brain for some substitute that would still be great in there and am having a hard time. Sorry. Still thinking…
Can u replace the peanut butter with something non nut? Allergic.
Second recipe to try from your blog. Another hit! Absolutely loved this and will definitely be making it again.
@Paula,
Absolutely! It will be a little creamier but still taste awesome!
Do you think the flour is absolutely necessary? My daughter is gluten free and if I took out the flour it would then be a gf recipe. 🙂
@Anonymous,
Yes, you can make it the night before. You are funny!
Making this for my daughters birthday party, and wanted to know if you can make it the night before? i like to try and make and prep as much as possible so day of i’m not a monster! thanks!
I made this today for a jewelry party I was hosting and it was a hit! I pretty much had the party just to have an excuse to make this!! So, so yum! I had to pass the recipe along to several ladies! I have also been enjoying many of your other recipes! Thanks for a great blog and incredible food ideas!
@Gege and babemalo,
I haven’t tried to freeze this but it has the same components as a similar recipe that I freeze so I think you could. It will keep in the fridge for a while. It firms up in the fridge so take it out for a while if you want to eat it. I would say 3-4 days in the fridge would be fine.
Hey! Can I freeze this? or How long does it last in the fridge?
Hey! Can I freeze this? or How long will it last in the fridge?
My husband wanted something sweet after dinner and I had been eyeing this one for a while- quick and easy and I had everything on hand. We ate about half of it before we made ourselves put it away! It’s like your dream of eating all the cookie dough raw coming true without the stomachache!
*Passes out on the floor!*
This recipe is AMAZING! It will be featured tomorrow as the “Daily Nosh” on virtualwinebar.com. I’ve paired it with Root 1 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. Simply delish ~ Cheers!
Yum!!! Hope to try this soon!
I need some of this STAT!
@Christina,
I got the bowl from my mother-in-law who got it at Homegoods.
This looks fabulous. Can’t wait to try it. The red polka dot bowl is adorable….where did you get it?
This is awesome! Someone had asked if you could replace the peanut butter and all I did was add another brick of cream cheese. I added more powdered sugar and some milk to thin it out a bit because I did want it to be more like a dip. I served it with nilla wafers and spoons to everyone could just scoop it out. I did forget what else I needed and ended up with mini oreos so I chopped them up and threw them in as well. After sitting overnight they kind of desolved into this oreo ribbon of heaven. You could put anything in this and it is just incredibly yummy!
@SixMonthsofKetchupSoup,
Thanks for the recipe! I want to try it out!
@Cnksmommie,
I answered your question earlier but I guess it didn’t go through. Just like said above, you can not bake these because there isn’t egg in them.
Oh WOW! I was looking for fun finger foods for my son’s party and this is PERFECT!!! Thanks for sharing!
Going to try this tomorrow, yum! Andrea, I make 30 dozen monster cookies every year at Christmas time and this is the recipe I use. The cookies freeze beautifully by the way. http://www.grouprecipes.com/31374/monster-cookies.html
Cnksmommie, I don’t think the dip recipe can be baked like a cookie, it’s missing the eggs and baking soda from the cookie recipe, I can see it turning to a puddle of melted goo on your cookie sheet (but delicious goo!)
Awesome! Just made some. The hubby approves. Thanks!
Yeah, just made it for a dinner party tomorrow. It would make a fun dessert for a Thursday night so, I am serving it with apple slices, pretzels and graham crackers. I have been thinking, it has oats for fiber, sugar for energy, peanut butter for protein, cream cheese for calcium, and chocolate for anti-oxidants. Really this is health food… 😉
LOL 🙂
I hate you for this, aka I love you for this. Hello 10-mile redemption run!
Can this be baked like a cookie
@Something Swanky,
I love your blog and I’m stalking you…so we’re even!
Thanks for the awesome recipe!!
@Maria,
You can definitely make it without the peanut butter. You might need to cut down on the oats since it won’t need as much.
Wow! Er, I don’t want to sound too much like a star-struck blog stalker, but… omg-I-love-your-blog-and-I-can’t-believe you-made-my-dip-and-I-love-your-blog.
Photos look awesome! And I’m glad I’m not the only one who had a compulsive eating problem with this one…
I’m allergic to peanut butter (and treenut/seed butters) Do you think or know if this would work without the peanut butter?! (Of course, I could make it for my kids WITH the peanut butter, but what fun would that be?)
@Kaylah,
I used light brown but I think you could use either.
I think I just gained 10 lbs. looking at this! I can never make this, b/c I would eat the entire bowl.
Why didn’t I know about this when I was younger…I was the girl who could eat an entire cookie dough log while watching a movie…I’m sure I have some residual salmonella or something. I have to make this immediately…this will be dinner for sure!
I want this for dinner tonight! Amazing!
Hey this looks so yummy! Did you use dark or light brown sugar?
@Jenn,
It’s not bad. I actually had all of the ingredients too! I want to say that this made around 5 cups worth. Hard to say because I kept eating it. I’ll have to make it again soon to give a better answer. 🙂
I copied this immediately! My kids are going to love you, I already like you a lot! 😛
I could definitely destroy a bowl of this. There’s oats in it, it’s healthy…
This is insane. I would totally destroy that whole bowl of dip. Daintily, of course!
Is it sad that I have all of these ingredients in my pantry/fridge? And that said block of cream cheese has been taunting me trying to make me come up with something to include it in?
Wowsa. I think I’ve found dessert for Mother’s Day! LOL
About how much does this make?
YUM!
Mmm this is packed with yumminess! Love it!
Oh my…I love Monster cookies. I think I would like this dip better than the chocolate chip cookie dough because I love that it has the oats and peanut butter…and M&M’s of course!
Yikes, looks dangerously delicious! Thanks for sharing!
I imagined you laughing an evil genius laugh the entire time you put this post together…because this recipe and that photo can only come from a really wicked Evil Genius!
WOW!!! That’s all I can say 🙂
Forget the cooked cookie, give me the raw cookie dough!! YUM.
Christina

Um. This just might be my favorite post! Can you post a good monster cookie recipe too??
OMG this website raises my blood sugar just looking at it!
Oh my goodness! I would eat the whole batch for sure!
