MONTE CRISTO SANDWICHES
I know the original Monte Crísto at Disney serves their sandwich with a side of raspberry preserve, but it’s SO delicious with a little baked into the sandwich! You could always serve with a side of preserve for anyone who wanted a little extra. I really think the raspberry flavor sends this sandwich over the top. Don’t even think about making these sandwiches without it! I bet you can’t eat just one!
Start by buying Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls and slicing them in half. I tore each little roll apart, but you could leave them as a sheet and just cut them into individual sandwiches after they’re baked. Which ever is easiest for you.
Monte Cristo Sandwiches

- 1/2 lb thinly sliced deli turkey
- 1/2 lb thinly sliced honey ham
- 1/2 lb sliced Provolone cheese
- 1/2 lb sliced White American Cheese
- raspberry preserve
- 1 12- pack Original KIng's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
- 1 stick of salted butter, melted
- 2 T sugar
- 1 heaping T flour
- powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Slice rolls open and place bottom of rolls in baking dish. Fold 1 thin slice of turkey and 1 thin slice of ham onto each sandwich. Top with 1/2 slice of Provolone and 1/4 slice of American cheese. (more if desired) Spoon raspberry preserve on top of cheese and top with other side of roll.
- On stove top, melt 1 stick of salted butter. Add sugar and flour and whisk until sugar is melted. Brush on top of sandwiches, covering entire top of sandwich. Bake uncovered for 8-10 minutes. Serve warm with powdered sugar dusted in top.
Can you make part of this ahead of time, like the night before ? Thanks!
Yes totally!
I made the Monte Cristo sandwiches for a church brunch, today. Huge hit! Easy to put together, and bake while I was putting on my makeup. I didn’t bother with the powdered sugar…there is plenty of sweetness without it.
True, plenty sweet without it.
So good and so easy. And they still taste amazing even when cooked to room temperature
Thank you!
Outstanding. I served them at a Mother’s Day brunch and there wasn’t even a crumb left. So easy to make with the right amount of sweet and salty.
So glad to hear that!
Have eaten many Monte Cristos at Disneyland and made the “real” French toast style at home for years… I like this simpler little bite style and will make them for a birthday tea party next week. But just a note the one’s at Disneyland’s Blue Bayou and Café Orleans use blackberry jam/preserves (or boysenberry if that is not available)….I am sure raspberry is good also. Now that I think about it I wonder if even apricot jam would be tasty…. maybe we will do some of each!!!
can i freeze the sandwich ?
I have never tried it. If you do, let me know how it turns out.
It looks simply wonderful, I adore berries, fresh and fresh-frozen
Looks delicious! Raspberry preserves are my favorite, for as is and in savory-sweet dishes. My friend introduced me to egg, cheese, raspberry preserve and bread sandwiches and my life hasn’t been the same 😝
The sandwiches are looking Delightful!!! I will try it at home, evening time.
These look fabulous! I totally need to try these for dinner tonight!
