Oreo Truffles
Oreo Truffles are one of my favorite recipes of all time! Cream cheese and crushed Oreos dipped in almond bark or melting chocolate.

OREO TRUFFLES
My sister-in-law Kristy introduced these to the Denney family and from that moment we knew she was meant to be in our family.
I mean who doesn’t love Oreos!
The first time I made these Oreo Truffles was for the Super Bowl. I thought I could skip the step where you freeze the balls and started dipping immediately and I ended up with saggy balls.
Trust me. You cannot skip this step.
They are so good with Nutter Butters in the middle too instead of Oreos. Watch out. These may be the fastest way possible to consume calories. Especially when I can pop these like popcorn.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- Make sure your oreo centers are frozen hard before dipping in almond bark.
- If using vanilla almond bark, melt in small batches. Sometimes the truffles can bleed black crumbs into the bark and you don’t want to ruin a whole batch of almond bark.
- To make them look really professional, dip in almond bark and let it set. Go back and drizzle more almond bark on top for that finished look.
HOW TO MAKE OREO TRUFFLES
-
The easiest way to do this is throw the Oreos in a food processor until crumbs then add the cream cheese until combined. If you don’t have a food processor you can crush your Oreos in a Ziploc bag and then add the cream cheese to the bag and blend it with your hands.
-
Roll into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet or tray. Freeze until firm, about 30-60 minutes. Do not skip this step! Using a fork, dip Oreo balls into melted chocolate coating, tapping fork on the side to get excess off, and place onto waxed paper to harden (mine’s soft in the picture because it was so hot outside). You may have to dip them in batches keeping the others in the freezer so that the balls stay firm.
-
Chill and serve cold or room temperature. Makes about 30 truffles. Can freeze them up to two months.
Here’s a fun twist on Oreo truffles with these Grinch Truffles.

I totally forgot there was cream cheese in these. I have been doing so much baking the last few days. I had them in the fridge for a day and I took them out had them on counter for 2-3 days. They were still firm on outside. Can I still serve these? I put them back in the fridge. I’m so mad I forgot about them having dairy. It was my first timeaking them.
They should be fine but I would taste and use your disgression
just made these for watching the playoffs and they are YUMMY!!
They’re amazing.
If I’m making these into pops, will the chocolate run down the stick when I stick it in the sytrofoam to dry?
Mine did not run down the stick. If you make sure to get as much of the excess chocolate off by tapping it gently.
pardon my ignorance, but I’ve never eaten oreos, though I’d like to make these for a friend who loves them: when you say 18oz crusehd oreos, you mean they should be crushed with their filling too?
Yes. Crushed with their filling!
thanks 🙂
I should have had an eating contest between guys and dolls. 36 balls went so fast I didn’t get one! I have been asked to bring these quite often; its a new family favorite. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Glad you loved them as much as I do.
Just made these for Memorial Day weekend. They were great! I used gluten free Jo Jo’s from Trader Joes (gf Oreo equivalent) and they were delicious. The cookie package was about 12 oz so I only used about 6oz of cream cheese. What a success. Will make again!
Made these today for a birthday dinner! They were a huge hit and major success! Thanks so much for sharing an awesome recipe! Quick and Easy! Delish!
These are my absolute favorite.
What a great idea, love anything with Oreos! I am so going to make these for my next party!
I want to make these in advance for a party. Is that ok? Do you have any storage tips?
These can totally be made ahead of time. I would freeze them for up to two weeks in a airtight container.
Re: Oreo Truffles…..You can use chocolate cake mix, can of chocolate frosting, and cream cheese to get the same thing. I have made these using Red Velvet Cake mix, cream cheese frosting and cream cheese.
Always looking for new easy recipes, by all the comments Im def gonna try this one , thanks.

@Lori,
These are my life. I could eat these every day.
Quick question… What is the consistency supposed to be like once you mix in the cream cheese? Should it be pretty squishy? I live in China and each sleeve of Oreos is 130g… I calculated it all out and bought four packages to roughly equal 18oz, but when I mixed in my cream cheese it is still really crumby. I guess I should try adding more cream cheese? I really want to make these work so I can EAT them (oh and I’m supposed to bring them to a baby shower tomorrow..!!) Thanks! 🙂
So you want to use about 30 oreos for every block of cream cheese. It should not be crumbly at all. It should be pretty wet like cookie dough.
Those look so good. My mom made those like once when I was little.
@Anonymous,
The chocolate is actually harder than it looks especially when you refrigerate it. But that’s what you want! This chocolate is only soft because it is sooooo hot in Florida.
Hi! I tried making cake pop before but could never get my chocolate to not harden too much. Urs looks perfect in the photo! Hw did you eat it so that the chocolate is more soft and not crunchy ? (hope you get what I mean!)
All of your dessert recipes are literally magical. I can’t wait to make them all!
we make these using mint oreo cookies. to die for!! just an extra idea:)
Hitting print now!!! Cannot wait to make these for Christmas eve!!
Each batch makes around 30 truffles. You will love them!
Can you tell me how many one batch makes? I need to make 10 dozen cookies for an exchange. Thanks!
OMG! I just made these and I have to say they may just be the best thing ever!!!!
These look toooo good
Ok….I just tasted the finished product and it is out of this world. These will not last long – my family loves them!!!! I ended up using a skewer to dip the balls in the chocolate vs. a spoon or fork. I sprinkled chopped pecans on it and then used another skewer to slid it off. There will end up being a hole in the ball – just dip the end of the skewer in the melted chocolate cover up the hole and sprinkle more pecans. Very very tasty. My 11 year old son asked if I can make them for Christmas. Thanks for the recipe!!!
I just made them….they are in the freezer. Can’t wait to taste the end result.
these look yummy! I’m going to try these out as a christmas treat this year I think – thanks for the post 🙂
These look lovely. I’ve never eaten oreos, perhaps I’ll buy a packet now and make these too, thanks.
