PEPPERONI PIZZA MONKEY BREAD
The Super Bowl is Sunday!!! I feel like I want to say Super Bowl over and over because brands and companies aren’t allowed to use the word “Super Bowl” because of copyright laws.
Instead they have to say “The Big Game” whenever referring to the Super Bowl.
But since I have my own blog here I’m allowed to say it all I want. And start sentences with “And” and “But” which is horrible grammar. So Super Bowl, Super Bowl, Super Bowl. Take that.
PULL APART PIZZA BREAD
We like to do our own version of Prop Bets for the Super Bowl. How long is the National Anthem? What song will the halftime singer sing first?
As far as food, these are what I will probably end up making: Buffalo Chicken Macaroni and Cheese, BLT Dip, Jalapeno Popper Pigs in a Blanket, Jalapeno Popper Dip, and the Best Bean Dip. Or some version of that.
Per my husband’s request, something pizza flavored. Pizza rolls, stuffed pizza rolls, or this pull-apart bread dipped in pizza sauce or ranch dressing.
Garnish with fresh parsley or fresh basil. What are you guys making??
HOW TO MAKE PIZZA BREAD
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, add all the ingredients (except marinara) and toss well until combined.
- Pour mixture into a greased 10-inch Bundt pan (you can also use a 9×13 baking dish). Bake for 35-45 minutes or until rolls are cooked on the inside; cover with aluminum foil after 20 minutes or until top is browned. Check every 5 minutes towards end of cooking to see if done.
- Remove from oven and loosen edges of bread with a knife. Invert Bundt pan on a plate and then invert onto a serving platter so that the pretty side is up. Pull apart and dip in warm marinara. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
STORE BOUGHT OR FROM SCRATCH
You can make your pizza dough from scratch but I like the way that biscuit dough puffs up and saves me a lot of time.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A BUNDT PAN?
You can make this Pizza Monkey Bread in a 9×13 dish. You may have to adjust your baking time to less time but you can totally do it. Just cook until the biscuits are golden brown.
CAN I PREPARE THIS MONKEY BREAD AHEAD OF TIME?
You can bake it ahead of time and reheat. I wouldn’t prepare the raw biscuits with the mixture and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight because the biscuits start to get a weird texture.
VARIATIONS
You can make this yours by customizing this bread with your favorite toppings.

Made it and it was AMAZING
THank you!
I wonder if ground Italian sausage would work as well and would I need to cook the sausage first.
Yes. Definitely cook the sausage first! It would be great.
Wow! Just going to ask the same exact thing. Going to make half without pepperoni, and substitute with sausage. This is going to be our Super Bowl dinner on Sunday while we watch the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl here in Green Bay! Go Pack!!!!
A very interesting twist on a pizza recipe.
Can this be made with gluten free pizza dough??? Looks delicious!!!
Haven’t tried it but I don’t see why not.
Can Swiss cheese be used instead of mozzarella?
Not crazy about pepperoni pizza but love Hawaiian pizza. Would this recipe be the same if I exchanged Canadian bacon for pepperoni and reduced cheese a little and exchange for pineapple? Any other changes you’d suggest?
I think it would work great!
Be careful, pineapple has a lot of moisture and will effect total baking time.
Claudia – come back and tell us how this turned out! Sounds delicious. I love anything Hawaiian pizza themed.
So easy and it was a hit!
Can you add sausage along with the pepperoni
Sure I don’t see why not!
I’d like to make with frozen pizza dough-Do you think the 20 Oz size balls I buy would work for one recipe?
Yes, I would maybe get two. 20 ounces might not be enough.
Love this
Glad you loved it!
Would you cut them up or use the whole ball ?
I would cut them up into balls.
This recipe was really good! I halved it as there is only 2 of us. Added extra Parm & Pepperoni , some green onions too. Also uses a little pizza spice along with the zesty Italian spice. Hubby really liked it! Which was a shocker.
Thank-you for this fun, tasty recipe!!
Glad you liked it!
Does this need to be served hot?
How long and at what temperature would you reheat this dish? I want to bake a day in advance but don’t want to mess it up reheating it.
I would reheat at 350 for about 10-15 minutes.
Hello love your recipe, but in Italy we do not have cans of refrigerate biscuits how can I substitute that thank you
You can use pizza dough instead!
Outstanding and so easy to assemble and bake. The biscuits, pepperoni, garlic and cheese were the perfect blend. My husband loved it and we will make it again. It will become a great go to meal. Thanks.
You are welcome!
Could you use regular frozen homemade bread or buns dough ? I would think that would be good.
Yes, think that would work!
Could I use fresh store bought pizza dough?
Absolutely!
Love it!
Can you use any other dough besides the refrigerated biscuits? Like homemade of may kind?
Homemade pizza dough is great!
Wondering could it be cool in a pan on a grill?
Definitely worth a try but I’m not sure the details of how.
Has anyone tried using canned crescent rolls? Just wondering if it will be the same.
I made this last night and followed your recipe to the letter which is always what I do on the first try. It’s easy to make, very tasty, full of flavor.
That being said I have a problem with biscuits because they have a specific taste that doesn’t add anything to the flavor of the recipe. Do you think frozen white bread dough or frozen white dinner rolls could be used??? Just a thought. And by the way, I don’t have a bundt pan so I used an angel food pan aka a tube pan and it worked just fine, BUT just remember to put a sheet pan under to catch the drippings of the pepperoni, which I did not. Need I say more? Thanks for listening.
You’re welcome. You could use dinner rolls or bread dough. I liked the texture of the biscuits.
What is the actual recipe. I need ingredient measurements. Thank you
I’m interested in trying this recipe. It looks delicious. Can you tell me your favorite biscuits that you use with this recipe? Thanks for sharing your recipe. I can’t wait to try it.
I just use Pillsbury.
Does this recipe say l/2 cup or 1 1/2 cups Parmesan cheese?
This recipe looks great! Where do you get the pizza dough? Is it sold in a can like the biscuits?
The recipe calls for biscuits but my bakery sells their pizza dough.
This looks amazing!!! I cannot wait to try this on Friday night to see how the kids like it. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome!
Can this be made ahead of time and frozen to be served at at later date?
I’ve never tried it but I’m sure it would work.
Just made this for my family… was a BIG hit!
Glad they loved it!
This looks incredible and I’m going to make it for my boyfriend’s birthday. On the Super Bowl thing though, I work in publishing and since you’re presumably earning ad revenue for all the ads on this page, I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to use that term because you’re profiting from their trade mark. I’d check your legal situation on that with a qualified lawyer. Can’t be too careful with these things, sadly.
Thanks for the heads up!
This was tasty, I made it with pizza dough. It was very greasy. I think next time I would reduce the oil and butter.
Made this last night to bring to a Super Bowl party. I cooked it for 45 mins and it appeared cooked but when I turned it out onto a plate it all collapsed and was very raw inside. I put it on a sheet pan and back in the oven. It took an hour total for mine to cook thru. I think next time I will use a 9×13 pan rather than a bundt. Even with the cooking fiasco, it tasted really good and was a big hit at the party!
So sounds like it needed more cooking time. I agree that a 9×13 pan is an easier way to go.
Dish was wonderful but even though pan was thoroughly greased could not get rolls out without digging
Sounds like you might need a new non-stick pan. Old pans will do that.
This recipe sounded so good I had to make it and so glad I did it was delicious I used baked ham in mine and along with marinara sauce I also had alfredo sauce.
Everyone loved it.
Sounds absolutely delicious!
Wow! Uptight a bit?
We all know it is not a margarita pizza!
Can you assemble this the night before & back it the next day?
I’ve seen this question asked two times now and never an answer I would like to know also.
Sorry! I didn’t see the question before. I have found that with dough from a can it doesn’t do well sitting out for long so I don’t recommend it.
I would not suggest doing that as biscuits do not fare well after opened.
Think I could get away with baking it in an 8×8 foil pan? For how long?
Yes, totally! You might need a slightly bigger pan though. I would do 350 for about 35-45 minutes.
Pizza Monkey Bread – do you think cutting recipe in half would work? I would love to try
this but it’s only me.
Yes, you can definitely half it.
Can you used Rhodes rolls instead of the biscuits?
Sounded delicious, so I made it this past weekend. The combination of cheese and grease from the pepperoni caused the outside of the bread to burn in the pan. I wanted it to be as fabulous as it sounded. Sadly, it wasn’t. I won’t be making it again.
Sorry. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you. A lot of people love this recipe. It could be your pan?
Thanks for thw recipe. I made it for Thanksgiving. It was a big hit. DELICIOUS!
So glad you loved it!
Looks amazing!
Thanks!
Just made this for dinner tonight. The kids (7 and 9) were able to help. We are all loving it right now!
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know.
Very good…next time I would make it in a baking dish rather than a bundt cake. It took an extra 30 minutes to cook the middle. But definitely an amazing dish. It was a family hit!
I’ve found it does depend on the type and brand of bundt pan. I have one that cooks fast and another that doesn’t.
Is it 2 16oz cans of biscuit or 16oz total of biscuit?
Two cans each 16 ounces so 32 ounces total.
Will make again but cut down on the amount of biscuits to use. I used pilsbury grands and found too doughy.
Yes, just make sure to cook it all the way through and it should be fine.
Absolutely amazing. I used pepperoni and Canadian bacon. Everyone loved it! Thanks for sharing!
Sounds delicious!
Can’t wait to try all of these. Thank you so much
Yum
this recipe is a total winner every time!!
Thanks Amy!
Think my kiddos are going to love this! It’s in the oven right now.
I hope they love it!
What brand bundt pan did you use for this recipe? Ours was not as non-stick as it should have been.
Oh Shoot. i have a wilton pan.
I don’t have a bundt pan so I make this in the cast iron skillet with a little glass prep bowl in the middle and it works just as well!
Oh awesome to hear that.
Looks so delicious! I love bread and pizza as well so this recipe will surely suit my taste.
I made this..Next time I will add some extra mozzarella cheese throughout. Even slices of provolone will be a thought. More pepperoni would be good too. If you like pepper’s and onions, saute first and add to the mix. You will tweak the recipe after following the written recipe first, my guess.
Hi it’s a very good recipe !!! i made it yesterday and every body like it 😉
http://aaatable.canalblog.com/archives/2018/07/18/36570887.html
Thanks for sharing it 😉
Glad you loved it!
You have a great link but its all in french. Would like to read your recipies.
Looks delish I might try and make it for my fam some time.
But what the hell is cans refrigerated biscuits? Where would I get them from
Also I live in Australia so I don’t know if we’d have it here, I’m guessing it’s an American recipe because of the (ounces) 😀
Oh no. I’m sorry. Yes, it’s Pillsbury and they are in the refrigerated section. You can use pizza dough as well.
going to try this me and my husband love this kind of meal
And with a salad it’s a complete meal!
What is the potassium count in this receipe?
I was just wondering if once you cover with foil won’t that make the monkey bread soggy ? Haven’t made it yet but plan on it for mother’s day!
As long as it’s not too hot it shouldn’t make it soggy.
Hi, how much pizza dough do I use in place of the biscuits ? Thank you 😊
About 2 lbs of pizza dough should do it.
How would you make this using Rhodes rolls? That’s what I use for monkey bread, I don’t like any bread or dough from a can. I’m wondering how many rolls. I’d mix all the ingredients with frozen rolls and let the rolls thaw/rise just like I do with monkey bread.
I would use about 20 rolls since we use 20 biscuits in this recipe. I haven’t tried it with Rhodes rolls but I’m sure it would work.
I likes using Rhodes rolls too. Did you mix the rolls with the ingredients before you let it rise? Or let the rolls rise first??
Did you all try this?
I used an angel food cake pan because when I asked my husband to look and see if we had a bundt pan, he didn’t know the difference. Lol Super easy to pop out of the pan and it was delicious!
So glad you liked it!
Looked good on top, but a bland flavorless mess. Waaay too much dough for the other ingredients
Sorry you felt that way. We all loved it.
Rosalie, you could make it then put it in a crock pot and keep it on the warm setting for a potluck. I’m sure it would be a huge hit!
Excellent recipe! Love the addition of butter that adds richness. Thank you so much!
Yep! I think it does.
Can you use pizza dough
Sure!
Has anyone prepared this the night before and just needed to bake it the next day? Wonder if that would work with the biscuit dough.
Oh my word! this looks amazing! and so easy to make, you just gave me a great idea to make for dinner tonight! the kids will love this
Hope they love it!
Anyone figure out a way to make this gluten free? I would love this gluten free. It looks so good!
You would need a recipe for gluten free biscuits and use that in place of the store bought ones. Make sure your pepperoni is GF also.
Is this any good after it get cold from sitting on table at potluck function?
It’s definitely better warm.
Yes! Not too much or the bread won’t cook all the way through.
Wonder if you can put some marinara sauce in with the mixture and cook it?
Has anyone used pizza dough instead of biscuit dough?
Pizza dough works too!
This look great and easy to make I will be making this. You could replace pepperoni with any kind of meat or put more than one kind of meat in it.
Yes, totally!
Mushrooms, hamburger, ham, bacon, just about anything you would put on a pizza………chicken onions peppers, really anything except the kitchen sink would be fine.
My 9yo made it last night for dinner, she loves to cook. AMAZING! Will definitely be coming back to this site for more recipes.
Oh I love hearing that!!!
What are refrigerated biscuits, never heard of them, is it like pizza dough?
That’s just regular store bought biscuits that you keep in the fridge.
Yes, it’s like pizza dough but they fluff up more. You can use pizza dough too.
You can also make it. Try epicurious
What kind of biscuit did you use?
Pillsbury refrigerated
hey girl- this looks so yummy! Y’all have a great weekend!
Thanks!
This recipe was so easy & yummy. Tried pizza sauce this time going to try marinara next time. The only thing I would do different next time is use more pepperoni. I use turkey pepperoni can’t tell the difference except not as spicy as regular pepperoni.
Did you have trouble with any of the biscuits being nit done all the way the top was brown and I cooked it like it said
which brand of marinara would you recommend?
My favorite store bought; Barilla or Bertolli
Use your favorite marinara ( I make my own)or like me, or use a good pizza sauce or make your own sauce
I like Bertoli or RAO’s.
RAO marinara is superb, the best Ive tried. It is pricey, but deelicious.
Yep. It’s a little pricey for sure.
