SLOW COOKER BUFFALO CHICKEN RECIPE

This buffalo chicken dip is one of our favorite appetizers for game day. Basically anything buffalo chicken is a huge hit with my whole family. This is one of those slow cooker recipes that you throw in and forget about. Such an easy recipe.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS

  • BONELESS SKINLESS CHICKEN BREASTS – I like to use chicken breasts but you can also use boneless skinless chicken thighs.
  • RANCH SEASONING MIX  – This adds flavor to the dish. Use the ranch dressing mix not the dip mix.
  • BUFFALO SAUCE – This gives the dish its spice and kick. Use Frank’s Buffalo wing sauce not Frank’s hot sauce which is hotter.
  • BUTTER – This gives the chicken flavor and tones down the spiciness.

HOW TO MAKE THIS

  1. Place chicken in a slow cooker. Add the buffalo sauce on top of the chicken, Ranch seasoning mix, and butter. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  2. Shred chicken and return shredded chicken to slow cooker. Serve with extra buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, or blue cheese crumbles on hamburger buns if desired.

HOW TO SERVE

You can serve this shredded buffalo chicken many ways:

  • I like to serve this on hamburger buns as sandwiches with ranch or blue cheese on top. Blue cheese crumbles are good as well. You could even top with cheddar cheese or mozzarella cheese.
  • Serve plain with all the toppings for a low-carb option or in lettuce wraps.
  • Toss with pasta.
  • Eat on a baked potato.
  • Top with green onions for color!

HOW SPICY IS THIS?

It’s spicy. It is made mostly of buffalo sauce which is a cayenne pepper sauce. You can tone down the spiciness by serving with ranch, blue cheese dressing, or blue cheese crumbles. You can even add about 1/4 cup of brown sugar when cooking to tone down the spice.

STORAGE

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.
